Been a busy day at Blaze of Glory today… first we had a couple quail start hatching in the incubator and then we stole/borrowed a lawnmower/baby daddy for Tinkerbell. Max is on loan from Becca Hammon so we can have another beautiful baby from Tink next year. He is such a good boy. He was too busy eating grass to get a good pic and I was being eaten alive by mosquitoes but will get a good pic over the next few days.

So I have not posted in a couple days as I was looking after my poor Moonie who decided smashing her face somewhere in the pasture was a good idea. After finishing work on Monday, and then the farrier coming to do horses, I went out to do night chores and found my sweet girl with a cut on her face. It was big enough I was concerned (and knew it happened just that day as she is a very in your face girl when you pass through her field) so I called the vet and took her in. Once it was cleaned out the vet noticed she had hit something hard enough it actually made a mark on her bone that needed to be scraped smooth again(I did not take pictures for everyone to see). So she is now sporting her stitches for 14 days and antibiotics because the bone was involved. Hopefully she does not try a repeat of hurting herself again(silly fillies).

If it keeps raining much more I think I might need to switch to raising seahorses. Good thing I don’t use some of these pens in the summer but not sure we need any more rain for a while.

So Duchess decided last night in a monsoon was a good time to sneakily have her poor baby. Went out to bring her in for the farrier and she had a surprise beside her. Welcome Duke Jr(DJ), the last foal we will ever have by my sweet boy Duke. This one is staying as I’ve seen his brothers jumping form and want one for myself to eventually show. I will get better picks once he is settled and warm in the barn and has unfolded.
