Some of my new bunny owners have been asking about picking up their bunnies. How to do it and if they should! A common misconception some people have is if bunnies don’t like to be picked up they shouldn’t do it.

I will assure you from a lifetime of training horses that prey animals NEED to be trained thru desensitization. They must be exposed to the things they are SURE will kill them and find out in fact those things did NOT kill them!

Yes a rabbits nature is such that they do not initially like having their feet come off the ground . Being picked off the ground tells them a predator has grabbed them and they may die !

However, the more times you do it and the more times they don’t die, the more comfortable they become !

Handle your bunny OFTEN ! Help them get used to all the things! Their confidence will grow and they will get braver and braver❤️🐰🐴
