HOW CONDITIONAL IS YOUR LOVE FOR YOUR PET? LET’S BE HONEST…

Anyone who has loved an animal knows how fully they give their hearts to us.

They meet us at the door no matter when we get home. They sit on our lap or lie at our feet, contentedly, as we ignore them and watch our favourite TV show.

They seek out our attention and affection, even when we snap at them or push them away for their naughty behaviour.

They love us unconditionally.

They love us with our flaws and our moods and our often-unrealistic expectations.

Then they show us this love in so many ways, so many times.

Such a special gift they give, with their unwavering love.

THE QUESTION IS, DO WE LOVE THEM UNCONDITIONALLY?

Before you say, “yes, of course!”, consider these questions:

-How do I feel when they don’t match my pet parenting dream?

-What happens when their personality is not a fit with mine?

-How do I react when their behaviour is chronically challenging or irritating?

-What do I do when they are old or sick and I am giving more than receiving?

In my intuitive and coaching work with pet parents, this aspect of our relationship with our animals often comes up.

I help people reconnect with their deep love for their pets by acknowledging the conditions of their love and working through the barriers so they can have that special, happy, and loving relationship they've always dreamed of.

WHO REMEMBERS MR. ED, THE TALKING HORSE? HANDS UP!
(Writing ‘yes’ in the comments works too)

This question has a catch to it because if you do remember Mr. Ed, you are dating yourself. If you don’t, you have no idea what I am talking about.

For those of you who don’t know Mr. Ed, he was a real horse on a very old television show who literally moved his mouth like he was talking, and he spoke in perfect English.

Very convenient for him and the people in his life.

Wouldn’t it be great if our animals could talk with us that easily, and we could understand them and communicate back?

-No more guessing and wondering what they want and need.

-No more feelings of guilt when you make decisions on their behalf (less guilt anyway).

-No more talking to them and then asking yourself if they understood you.

-No more saying “sit, sit, sit” to your dog (okay, this may still happen as they’d have the choice to listen to you or not.)

Unfortunately, I have yet to meet a horse like Mr. Ed, or any other animal who could talk like him.

The good news though, is that there is a way to connect with your animal and share information, it is just not done using human words…not quite that easy, unfortunately.

As an animal communicator, I intuitively connect with animals. I ask them your questions and pass on your messages, and they share their perspective about whatever they want to share.

I know, it sounds a little ‘out there’. I am still in awe that it works, and it is very cool.

HOW MUCH DO YOU LOVE YOUR PET?

The easy answer may be … with all your heart, and in a way you never expected.

The tougher answer is, possibly, how do you say this without offending your human loved ones, and without your non-animal friends thinking you are truly crazy?

Maybe, you just don’t tell them? 🤔

Whether you say it out loud or not, you feel it, this incredible love for your furry (or not furry) friends.

I know I feel this way, and I am pretty sure if you’re still reading this, you do too.

So, my question for you is,

What kind of pet do you love, and just how much do you love them?

DID YOUR PET CHOOSE YOU?

People often tell me that their pet chose them, and I think, how cool is that? 🥳

What’s interesting is that they don’t hesitate when they say this. In fact, they usually tell their story enthusiastically and in detail.

I just nod and smile. 😉

As an ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR and pet parent myself, “being chosen” by our pets makes sense to me.

How about you? Not sure?

Consider these questions…

-Have you ever met someone for the first time and felt that recognition, like you know them already?

-Have you ever decided on a whim to go somewhere new, and then found exactly what you had been looking for?

-Have you ever “had a feeling” about something, listened to it, and been grateful that you did?

I bet that most of you answered yes to at least one of these questions.

This is our energy, our intuition, our gut feeling.

We all have it. We all use it. Some of us are simply more conscious of it and actively work with it.

Not surprisingly, animals are highly intuitive and, whether in the wild or in our homes, they use this to communicate and survive.

I don’t know for sure if our pets truly “choose” us, or if we are simply communicating energetically and agreeing to be together.

Either way, lucky us!

The adventures. The friendship. The lessons. The joy. The love. Even the heartache.

IF IT’S FUN, I’VE WON!

A friend of mine has this as one of her business and life mantras, and from my perspective, she really lives it. Every word of it.

While I love the mantra and this thinking, and I can struggle with it at times. 🤔

Somewhere along the way I came to believe that “I am serious” equals working hard and being productive, and “I am having fun” equals playing, holiday time, or worse, slacking off.

So, work first. Fun and play second.

Do you ever catch yourself thinking this way? DO YOU NEED A BIGGER DOSE OF FUN IN YOUR LIFE? 🤩

What I notice is that THE PEOPLE WHO BRING FUN INTO EVERYTHING THEY DO…
🤣laugh more
🏆accomplish more
🥳attract more fun people
🤝move through challenges more easily
😍enjoy the moment much more (work or play)

WHO DOESN’T WANT THAT?
(I know I do)

What I also notice is that OUR PETS ARE REALLY FURRY “FUN MAGNETS”. They are hardwired for fun and play, and WE CAN’T HELP BUT JOIN IN.

Whether they are getting us out for a game of fetch, lying upside down wagging their tail, or lying on the papers we are trying to read, it is very hard to stay too serious.

They know very well that IF IT’S FUN, THEY’VE WON.

MY CHALLENGE FOR YOU IS TO WATCH YOUR FURRY FUN MAGNET/S AND FOLLOW THEIR LEAD. Let them be your reminder, your cue, to live with more joy and more play in whatever you’re doing.

Let your animals show you that IF IT’S FUN, YOU’VE REALLY WON. 🙈🙃🥇

IF YOU COULD ASK YOUR PET ONE QUESTION, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Please post your question in the comments -I’m curious to know what it is. 🤔

If you’re like me though, it may be hard to choose just one question. There are so many things I want to ask each of my animals.

What if you could ask your pet …

🐶...about their physical pain or challenging behaviour.
🐦...about their wishes and their needs.
🦄...about their quirks.
😔...about how to support them in their final days.
🐾...about how they are doing now that they are in spirit.

Know what? You can ask you pet these questions, and you can get their answers. We all have intuitive ability, and we all use it more than we realize.

As an INTUITIVE ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR, I do connect with my animals this way, AND it can be harder than with other people’s pets, because I am so close to them, and I am emotionally involved.

There is a reason doctors don’t treat themselves, and lawyers don’t represent themselves. For animal communicators, it is much the same thing. It’s not ideal.

Still, I encourage you to explore this deeper, quieter communication with your pet. Give it a try! You may be surprised what you learn.

I often hear loving pet parents say that their dog or cat (or another pet) chose them, and I think, how cool is that? 🥳

What’s interesting for me is that these people don’t hesitate. They don’t wonder how this happened, and they don’t mind others knowing about it.

In fact, they usually tell me their story and the “magic moments” in detail, and I love hearing every word of it. Sometimes, I even need Kleenex (seriously).

As an INTUITIVE ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR, this “being chosen” by our pets makes sense to me.

How about you?

Ask yourself these questions…

-Have you ever met someone for the first time and had an instant physical or emotional response to them even before you have spoken?

-Have you ever felt pulled to go somewhere, or to do something you don’t normally do, and then found that what/who you needed or wanted was there?

-Have you ever had a “good feeling” or a “bad feeling” about something, listened to it, and then been grateful that you did?

Even if you don’t say so out loud, I am guessing that most of you answered yes to these questions.

This is our energy, our intuition, our 6th sense, our “gift”, whatever you want to call it. We all have it. We all use it. Some of us are just more conscious of it than others.

As animal lovers and pet parents, I believe this is the main way we communicate with our animals, and they with us. Animals are highly intuitive, and they read us well. They know what we need.

So, it is not a big surprise that loving pet parents so often say that their dog or cat (or another animal) chose them, or that they just “knew” that this was “the one” for them.

And how lucky we all are to be chosen by our special, incredible pets. The adventures. The friendship. The lessons. The joy. The love. Even the heartache.

How to improve your dog’s behaviour without training.

This may seem too good to be true. It’s really not. I promise. 🙏

There are things you can do to improve your dog’s behaviour, and your relationship with them, without training.

I will clarify, before the naysayers pipe in, that these suggestions will not solve serious behaviour issues nor are they a magic pill for all lesser challenges.

For those things, add in the training. Please.

Does your dog…

-bark often?
-rip around the house doing “zoomies”?
-bolt out the door when you head out for a walk?
-need to be underfoot or seeking attention all the time?
-seem to be easily distracted?

Imagine how lovely would it be if this kind of behaviour improved (or even stopped all together).

Well, here are four things you can do (no training required).

One – Give your dog a lot of rest (a rested dog is calmer and more focused)

Two – Improve their diet (high quality, nutritionally dense food – the less processed the better)

Three – Change your dog’s routine (less predicting/anticipating, more focus on you, more variety for your dog)

Four – Find your Zen (the calmer and cooler you are, the better for you and your dog)

These four things can create the base for your training, and they can be part of your maintenance plan…aka your new and better lifestyle with your dog.
