To my amazing Salty Dog families, thank you for such a busy and rewarding year. I truly can’t express how grateful I am to everyone who chooses Salty Dog and trusts me with their pups. I feel incredibly lucky to spend my days with so many wonderful dogs.

At Salty Dog, your dog’s wellbeing always comes first. Unlike larger facilities with 20–30 dogs per staff member, my groups are intentionally kept small (typically under 10). This allows me to focus on each dog’s individual needs, encourage healthy and manageable interactions, support good manners, and ensure every pup has a positive, low-stress experience.

While you’re away, your dog relaxes in a home environment, grouped with appropriate dog pals and treated like family. I pour my heart and soul into the care I provide, and I’m grateful that so many of you see and value that.

I never enjoy raising rates, and after two years without an increase, this decision was not made lightly. With the rising costs of running a small business and increased demand for personalized care, a rate adjustment is necessary to continue offering the level of care your dogs deserve.

✨ Important: Any bookings made before January 1, 2026 and quoted at the current rate will be honoured.

Additional fees may apply for medication administration or behavioural management and will always be discussed in advance. If your dog’s needs have changed or you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Miss Daisy has been with us about 5 months now. The time has flown by! She has been fully vetted including a spay and tummy tuck, she has made many friends and been on many adventures. She has come so far with us and is just oozing with so much love and affection for those around her. She’s now ready for her next adventure with a new family. We are going to miss her so very much but finding her a perfect forever home will make that heart ache a little easier. Applications close tomorrow ! 🚨NEW RATES EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1st 2024🚨

It has been a busy year and I can’t thank all my clients and supporters enough for choosing Salty Dog! I feel incredibly lucky that I get to spend so much of my time with so many amazing pups.

At Salty Dog I’m really proud I’m able to run things in a way that puts your pup’s wellbeing first. While most larger boarding facilities have big, busy groups of 20-30 dogs per employee my groups here are typically under 10. Keeping groups small allows me to cater to each dogs individual needs. It gives me the ability to promote healthier and more manageable interactions between the dogs, better manners and obedience. Above all I want to ensure your pup has a positive experience with as little stress as possible.

While you are on vacation you can trust your pup is relaxing in a home environment grouped with appropriate dog pals being, treated like family. I put my heart and soul into my clients and I love what I do and I trust most of my clients see this. With the rising demand for the type of personalized care I offer and unfortunately the rising cost of just about everything today I am in a position where I need to raise my rates.

I have reviewed what others who offer similar services charge and still strive to ensure I am fairly valuing my services. Given the slightly higher leap in rates from other increases these new rates won’t take effect until Jan 2024 to ensure all clients have ample notice.

Any medical needs whether short term or chronic there may be an ADDITIONAL FEE FOR MEDICAL ADMIN, please be sure to discuss with me prior to your pets booking if they are on any medications or require any special considerations. Cost may also vary if there are additional behavioural needs that require more management ie puppies or dog selective dogs, separation anxiety etc. this will be discussed at new client trial runs.

🚨Attn Salty Dogs🚨

Effective immediately ALL bookings will require a non refundable 50% deposit at the time of booking.

I have always had a deposit policy and have been lax about it but unfortunately not everyone is extending the same courtesy. When you book that spot is reserved for your pup, not only are they taking up a spot for another dog but I may also turn away other bookings if I feel needs and or personalities may not mesh.

I have had to turn away quite a few bookings in recent months as a result of being full. When clients cancel without at least several weeks notice I can not fill that space, this is income lost that I rely on and unfair to other clients who would have taken the spot but have booked elsewhere.

These convos/ posts are never fun for me but I hope and trust my clients will understand. I appreciate everyone’s support as always. It has been a busy summer thanks to you all!

Most folks may have care organized already but due to cancellation I have space available the next couple weeks I’d love to fill. Preference given to existing clients as there is not a lot of time for trials for newbies. Send a message if you need care !

🚨Attn. Salty Dogs 🚨
We hear summer is just around the corner or perhaps here already ?! Many of you are already on the ball for bookings. I am still taking some summer bookings but note that spots are extremely limited as clients are booked every day until September. I only overlap bookings based on needs and personalities, if you have summer dates please let me know asap !

As much as I’d love to add new faces to the crew I won’t have the capacity to accept new clients until the fall. I do still encourage new clients to reach out to discuss future bookings and trial dates.

As always keep an eye on instagram stories for last minute openings, daycare slots and trial dates.

This is shaping up to be a busy spring and summer. I can’t thank you enough for your continued support, I couldn’t do it without you all!

Within a few days of opening up Christmas bookings spots were already filled ! We are most definitely at max for the holiday season and can’t take on any further bookings until the New Year. Many thanks to everyone for all the support ! I wish I could watch them all ♥️

That’s right your eyes do not deceive you, I will be here in Halifax for Christmas 2022. A couple spots are left for overnight boarding.
