Fun Fact: October is known as National Veterinary Technician month, across North America.
We would like to recognize the three Registered Veterinary Technicians who are an integral part of our team: Arlene, Sharon and Brianna.
An RVT is an educated, credentialled professional who offers never ending support to our veterinarians and to the clinic as a whole. They wear many hats and are responsible for an endless number of roles.
It is an RVT who cares for your pets while they are in hospital, ensuring they are comfortable during their entire stay with us. They are the ones who collect blood and urine samples, they run the lab tests, they take xrays, they make up the medications as prescribed by the veterinarians and administer them. They also prepare your pet for surgery, they monitor the anesthesia, and are there for them in recovery. They are the people who clean your pet's teeth and take dental xrays. They relay the vet's discharge instructions to you. They educate you on many aspects of preventive care. They also triage and help the vets to stabilize emergencies. They coordinate billing and go over estimates. They keep the treatment area clean and organized, maintaining sterility and infection control.
A clinic could not run as smoothly without RVTs on their team.

"Ever since I can remember, I knew this was the job i was meant to do. I grew up next to a farm and if my Mom was looking for me after school, she knew exactly where to find me. I genuinely love all animals, big or small. I enjoy senior pets in their golden age just as much as the cuddle of a new puppy. I like helping clients throughout the life of their pet and have met some amazing people throughout my career. I feel technicians play a very important role in the veterinary hospital. It's a great job, every day is different and I work with an amazing work family.
