Warmer weather is on the horizon ... we think. But it's never too early to start thinking about your pets and water safety!
Meet Ruca! π During her stay with us for her thyroidectomy, her dad stopped by with a very important giftβher brand-new life jacket, which conveniently doubled as a harness, rather than a collar. While she won't be hitting the water until after she recovers, she's already prepared for safer adventures ahead.
As the weather warms up and more pets join their families on boating, paddling, and beach outings, it's a great reminder that water safety is important for pets, too. Even strong swimmers can become tired, disoriented, or struggle in rough water.
π¦ Water Safety Tips for Pets:
πΎ Ensure your pet wears a properly fitted life jacket when on or around open water, especially if they are not the strongest swimmer or will be a far distance from shore.
πΎ Never leave pets unattended near bodies of water.
πΎ Provide fresh drinking water to prevent them from drinking salt water or contaminated water.
πΎ Check local water reports to avoid exposure to bacteria or blue-green algae blooms.
πΎ Introduce water activities gradually and always supervise closely.
We wish Ruca a smooth recovery and many safe waterfront adventures with her family. β€οΈ
