Hello! 👋 I’m Kayla, a certified Dog Trainer and I’m very excited to welcome you to my small business page! What you can expect to see is all things dog training and animal-related, including tips and tricks! When it comes to dog training, you can’t approach it with a “one size fits all” mindset, which is why I offer a variety of programs that are customized to you and your dogs specific needs. Fro

m puppy programs to aggression control, and even odour detection, I’ve got you and your dogs covered! All programs are in-home and in your area, so no need to worry about travelling, I come to you! I’ve been in the pet industry for 17 years - from managing a Global Pet Foods to running my dog walking business, I then decided to pursue Dog Training. My goal has always been to close the gap between humans and dogs, building a strong bond with clear communication. Over the years I’ve noticed this to be a common piece missing in pet homes - clear communication! Communicating with your dog is so much more than just saying cues and commands. Once you and your dog are communicating in a way they understand, things become much smoother. The bond that’s formed through training is so unique, there’s nothing quite like it 🙂 I speak from experience with my own 2 dogs! I hope you enjoy and feel free to DM me regarding any of my training programs! Programs I offer include:

▪️Puppy Program - For puppies up to 4 months old
▪️ Basic Obedience & Behaviour Modification Programs - For dogs over 6 months old
▪️ Off-Leash Obedience
▪️ Aggression Control
▪️ Competitive-Style Obedience
▪️ Odour Detection

Ian has completed his Board & Train Program, including the follow up sessions with his owners. These follow up sessions are *vital* for long term success! His owners have learned new handling skills, how to read Ian’s body language, new home management, and how to maintain what he’s learned moving forward. Ian can go from 0 to 100 real fast if not caught on time, so we spent a looot of time going over his body language, specific cues and how to get our timing correct to catch him before he escalates, and how to maintain engagement. His habits were deeply ingrained and undoing those habits takes a lot of time, work and consistency. There are no “cookie cutter” programs here, each one is customized towards the dogs specific needs and training goals.

When I first met Ian he was:
- Absolutely out of control
- A walking liability
- Always on high alert
- Aggressive towards other dogs, strangers, cyclists, scooters, you name it
- Excessive jumping and barking
- Had injured his owner multiple times, including dragging her down a long flight of stairs
- Couldn’t be within 30’ of another dog
- Had chased after someone riding a bicycle, knocking them onto a main road
- Could barely go for a walk
- Going to a pet friendly store or busy area was not an option

Tons of work has gone into this boy and it shows! Through training, Ian now has more freedom in life. He can go on walks, go to pet stores, new environments, etc. He now knows he can follow and trust his owners lead, rather than taking on that big responsibility himself. Through clear communication and consistency, this guy has a better future ahead.

Very proud of the continued efforts puts into maintain Ian’s training! Her handling skills have come a long way and it’s been so rewarding seeing her confidence build and her becoming the leader than Ian needs 👏 I say to every client, learning these new handling skills and undoing our own habits is not easy work! Love seeing the change not only in the dog, but the handler too 🙂

Love me a good scent work session!! My favourite 🙌

During yesterday’s session with Mona, instead of me hiding the odour, I had the owner of this Global Pet Foods hide it. We all went into the search blind and Mona did phenomenal! This was her first search in a pet store, which is a very high distracting environment. Absolutely love watching this girl work, it’s been so much fun watching her go from learning the foundations of odour detection to doing advanced searches! 👏
