We have a couple spots open in our upcoming K9 Fit class starting Sept 9th 12:30 to 1:30pm. Taught by a certied canine fitness trainer, this four week class is like a gym membership for your dog. It's also great for helping dogs build confidence. Whether you have a sport dog, service or therapy dog, or an active pet, K9 Fit is a great work out and also super fun.

Dogs must not have any current injuries or health issues, and need basic obedience skills like sit, down and stand (lured is fine!).

Does your dog run from their harness or collar? Teach them this simple cue!

-Start by rewarding your dog for looking at or touching the collar with their nose. I like to toss the reward away from me, so the dog can reset and come back to the collar on their own.
-Once your dog is comfortably bopping the collar with their nose, start rewarding them only when their nose gets close to going in. Gradually make your criteria for rewarding higher, until your dog is happily putting their nose through the hole.
-When your dog will eagerly put their nose into the collar, you can name the behaviour. I use the cue "hat".

Give the dog time to think. Esme needs time to consider what is being asked before putting her collar on. Note that I don't repeat myself or try to bribe her, I wait until she is ready. Freya is more confident and happily shoves her face in with no delay!

Leave It Level Up! - Take your dog's impulse control to the next level with this new two week course. Perfect for dogs who try to put everything in their mouths. Runs Aug 8th and 15th 9:30 to 10:30am

Intro to Scent Detection - Get started in the super fun world of sport Scent Detection. Great for all dogs of all ages (seniors too!) but especially for those dogs who just don't seem to get physically tired. Starts Aug 12th, 6-7pm, 4 week class.

Can't go outside because of the wildfire smoke? Train! Give your dog an outlet for their energy through games like tug, and get them using their body by practicing things like position changes (sit, down, stand) and tricks.
