Time for a Tick Talk! 😳
What can you do to keep your pets safe?
- Keep pet safe bug spray and tick removers close on hand when on outdoor adventures.
- Do thorough checks on your pets after potential exposure. Main areas to check on your pet include the armpits, groin, behind the ears, and between paw pads. Although they can latch on anywhere!
- If you remove a tick, ensure it is removed properly by getting the entire tick!
- Seek medical care! The longer a tick is attached, the more damage it can do. 6 weeks post removal, it is strongly recommended to do a 4DX test to ensure they did not contract a tick-borne disease such as Lyme.
Not so fun fact! Many people only think of Lyme disease when they think of ticks, but did you know they can also carry many other diseases such as Ehrlichia and Anaplasmosis?
Always remember that preventative care is the best care! Nobody is immune to ticks. Humans, dogs, cats, and rabbits! Speak to your vet about preventative that can be used to keep your pets safer all year round.
