October is RVT month! 🐾❤️
What do you think of when you hear Registered Veterinary Technician? Here at LAC, we think of kind hearted, hard working, and fully dedicated people. RVT’s are highly educated individuals who pride themselves on giving the best care they can to their patients and clients! Veterinary medicine would not be what it is today without the countless RVTs who contribute their blood, sweat, and tears to this ever-evolving field of work. If you know an RVT, remember to thank them for all they do because there's a lot more to it than snuggling puppies and kittens! Happy RVT month to every RVT out there! 🐾❤️

The holiday season has arrived and with it can come disruptions to our pets daily routines and heightened risks for our pets. Here are a few general safety reminders to help keep the holiday’s fun, relaxing, and safe for both yourself and your pet family! 🍂
• Keep Food Covered At All Times:
o We are no stranger to counter surfing pets coming to the clinic. It is very important to keep food in a safe location to reduce the risk of a pet getting into something they shouldn’t!
• Lock Up Garbage’s:
o After the feast is eaten, food scraps, wrappers and bones get tossed into the bins. While our feast is over, sometimes our pet’s has just begun. Please double bag garbage and secure it into a pet proof bin.
• No Table Scraps!:
o Our pets are very convincing and during this most giving time of year, all we want to do is share. However, many spices and ingredients can be toxic to our pets. Extra fatty food can also be a risk of gastrointestinal and pancreatic issues.
• Reduce Stress:
o Festive celebrations can be very stressful for our pets. Lots of sounds, smells and disruptions to routines can affect our pet’s mental health. Ensure to give your pets extra attention, reduce stress where possible and reward them for good behaviour. If your pet experiences high stress, plan ahead and consult your vet for advice
• Keep Up On Preventatives:
o As the weather gets colder, it is important to remember that ticks can still be a risk to yourself and your pets! Ticks can be active in temperatures above freezing and can even be found in warm hiding spots such as bushes where the snow does not reach. Remember to keep up on your pet’s preventatives and do a tick check on yourself and your pet after outdoor adventures.
• Anticipate Closures/ Holiday Hours:
o Holiday’s and weather can impact when your vet clinic and stores/ services are open. Ensure to plan ahead and pick up your pets food and medication so you do not run out over the holiday’s! It is also important to be aware of who to call in the event of an emergency. If your pet has an emergency and our clinic is closed, please call VetWise at 705-805-1582.

✨ Patient Spotlight ✨
Everyone meet the adorable Quincy! Quincy is a 10 year old Lovebird who we have been fortunate enough to have as a patient for many years. Quincy always gets everyone at the clinic smiling when her sweet face pops out of her favorite coconut! Thank you for the visit Quincy! 💛
Fun Fact: Did you know that Lovebirds are natural cavity-dwellers? Instead of building open, cup-shaped nests like many other birds, they prefer to make their homes in more enclosed spaces such as holes in trees or rocky crevices.

09/28/2026

The clinic is closing at 1pm today Monday September 28th to allow us time for a full team meeting. The clinic will re-open at 9am tomorrow. If your pet has an emergency, please call VetWise at 705-805-1582.
