🐾 Why does mobile dog grooming cost more than a salon?
It’s a question I completely understand and get asked, so I wanted to explain what makes mobile grooming a little different. ❤️
With mobile grooming, your dog isn’t simply being groomed at a salon — the salon comes directly to your driveway! This means your dog gets one-on-one attention in a private grooming environment without having to leave home.
There are also significantly higher operating costs involved with a mobile setup. A mobile grooming business has to cover the cost of the grooming trailer itself, generator/power, water, heating and cooling, equipment maintenance, vehicle and generator fuel, insurance, repairs, and the additional wear and tear from travelling between appointments.
There’s also the time involved in driving to each client, setting up and cleaning the grooming space between dogs, filling and heating water, managing power, and keeping the trailer running safely in all kinds of weather — especially here in Northern Alberta. ❄️☀️
At a salon, several dogs can be groomed in one building at the same time, and the salon already has its utilities and infrastructure in place. Mobile grooming has many of those same expenses plus the cost of bringing the entire grooming facility to you.
What you’re paying for isn’t just the haircut or bath. You’re also paying for convenience, individualized attention, less travel for you and your dog, and a grooming experience right at your door.
I truly appreciate every client who chooses to support a small mobile business. It means so much to me, and I’m grateful to be able to do what I love while helping your dogs feel their best. 🐶💗
