Want to understand your dog’s body language a little better? Keep an eye out for your dog shaking off when they’re dry. What happened right before they shook off? The context of a situation can tell you a lot about your dog’s behaviour.

You might see a shake off:
🐾 after a stressful event to release built up tension
🐾 during play to say I need a break
🐾 after they were really excited
🐾 they just woke up

When they shake off, it’s a way of releasing both tense muscles and emotions. Think of it as a reset button.

Congratulations to the amazing people who have graduated from Foundations class!

Over the last month these dedicated dog guardians have taken the time to understand how their dogs learn, teach their dogs basic skills in class and practice implementing those skills at home. They completed Foundations with a theory & practical skillset that will help them throughout their lives with their dogs.

If this sounds like something you would like for you and your dog...we have another Foundations class starting July 8th! A hybrid of Zoom & in-person classes to set you up for success!

Are you worried your dog will always bark at and be nervous of new people? It doesn’t have to be that way. I am helping Client team Laurel and Dino, seen in the video, have tools for building confidence and being out in the world. They did great in their first in-person session. Baby steps.

Things we did for a successful training session:
- she had taught a solid marker word with Dino
-used a familiar location
-took lots of breaks
-played the engage disengage game with me (stranger)
-I watched his body language to see when he was comfortable with me getting closer or wanted me further away
