🚨 Never a dull moment! Milo got stuck in the fence when rolling in his paddock today. All four legs stuck. Couldn’t do it myself. Sitting on his neck so he didn’t hurt himself more and do more damage I called the neighbour. Thank goodness for good (and quick) neighbours!! Thanks soooo much Patricia Tschanen and Bruce for coming to rescue 💖.
Milo is banged up and has a few bruises and cuts, but will hopefully be ok again soon ❤️‍🩹. He‘s just enjoying some beet pulp, oats and his meds 🤠.

💖 How does self-care in horses look like?
A classic self-care behaviour is rolling. Rolling is an essential, instinctive behaviour that serves multiple important functions for a horses‘s physical and mental wellbeing.

* Coat maintenance & shedding
* Temperature control
* Itch relief & skin health
* Natural insect protection
* Stress relief & relaxation
* Social bonding and communication

It’s also important to know normal vs. concerning rolling behaviour. Rolling can also indicate pain or distress. Watch for the whole body shake after rolling. If they don’t do that after getting up they might hold tension/pain. Know your horse and its normal behaviour so you know if something looks off 👍🏼.

🔎 Starlight having a close look and inspecting the work happening in his pen yesterday. A new automatic waterer got installed to try out 🧐. Job has been approved, now to see if and how he’s using it 😁!

🌲Trails are dry enough to ride. So we enjoy a little tour to the indoor arena for a short hack and then back on the trail we go again 🤠. So good for heart and soul 💫
