It is a special week in the veterinary world...Veterinary Technician Week❣️

Whether you are a Registered Veterinary Technician, Veterinary Technician, Animal Health Technician or On-the-Job trained Technician, this week is to celebrate ALL the HARD work you do daily. The list of jobs of a Veterinary Technician is long and every day is very different from the last, but at least your job is far from boring. 🤣

This week is to celebrate ALL that you do, and remember the Veterinary world would never be able to exist without your many talents. 💙🩷

As many may already know and some that do not, we have a new phone system!

Wilma is here to announce the details. 🤣

Our automated phone system:

Press 1--Emergency
Press 2--Food and Prescription Refills
Press 3--Book an Appointment
Press 4--Pet in our care
Press 5--General inquiries
Press 6--If you are a Vendor or Support office Colleague.

This system allows for more phone calls to be answered and more clients/pets acquiring care or answers they need. The food and prescription refills option is available 24/7, it allows you to leave a message and a staff member will get back to you ASAP once we re-open.

Isn't Wilma the cutest phone receptionist?

💗 Sweet Eva came in for lameness, she was walking on 3 legs. 😢

Eva had a history of shifting leg lameness meaning lame on a front leg one day then a back leg another day, along with some recent vomiting, diarrhea and little appetite. 😢

On the physical exam, Eva had a fever, very uncomfortable on her legs, and swollen lymph nodes.😢 Blood work, complete with an Idexx 4Dx test.

The 4Dx test came up positive for Lyme Disease and Anaplasmosis. Both of these diseases are transmitted to dogs from ticks 🪳. They are treated much the same way and the symptoms 🤢 🤒🌡️are very much identical as well. And usually there are multiple symptoms present.

Most common symptoms:
* Fever
* Lameness, especially more than one legs
* Swollen legs/joints
* Swollen lymph nodes
* Lethargy
* Vomiting and/or diarrhea

Eva had a tick(s) at some point attached to her body somewhere and had contracted these diseases from the tick(s). She is currently on treatment and hopefully will be feeling better soon.

FYI Ticks, Fleas and other parasites are still active and pets should be on prevention/protection medications year round❣️

It is the most wonderful time of the year, and we do not mean Christmas 🎄🎁!🤣

😺😸😻It is DENNY'S CAFE FOR THE SPCA❣️🙀😻😽

If anyone is new to this page, Denny DuCat 😺 has been doing a fundraiser for the Gander and Area SPCA for 8 years now. In the month of October, 🍂 Denny makes his employees buy their coffees ☕, teas 🫖, other drinks and all of our snacks 🍰🍪🧁🥧🍿🥨. He keeps a close eye 👀, on all of us and he makes sure we all pay 💰 at the end of the month. All proceeds go to the Gander and Area SPCA.

Let's start this week off right with puppies and kittens❣️

Did someone say PUPPIES? KITTENS?

❤️The cuteness overload is too much most days.❤️

Puppies and kittens warm all of our hearts, especially when we deal with a difficult case.
