Please check yourself and your pet's after they have been outside. All of the parasites 🪳🕷️, like to hide in warm 🥵, darker places on the body of pet's especially!

💥 Even though your pet's 🐈‍⬛🐕 only go out into your backyard 🏡, creepy crawlers 🪳 like to hitch a ride on birds 🐦‍⬛🐦 and can fall off into your backyard.

💥 Protection is key. Prevention is even better.

💚💚💚💚May is Mental Health Month 💚💚💚💚

Mental Health is just as important if not more important than physical health. Physical Health can be greatly affected by poor Mental Health. 💚

Mental Health in all Veterinary Professionals is very important and still not talked about enough. Veterinary Professionals have the highest su***de rate of all professions. 😭

We work at a job because WE DO LOVE ANIMALS and will do whatever possible TO KEEP THEM HEALTHY OR MAKE THEM HEALTHY❣️

However, we also work in a job with a lot of mental abuse from clients. They may not see it as mental abuse but it certainly takes its toll on all of us. Things such as "you are only in it for the money", "you can't get me in for an appointment, you are going to let my animal suffer" and then there is the bad name calling. 😭

We work in a profession where we could be cuddling a new puppy to dealing with a hit-by-car to helping a senior pet cross the rainbow bridge with dignity and love. We could be spaying a cat to treating a seizuring
animal to dealing with a very sick patient that has been hospitalized. It is a roller coaster of emotions that we have to work through and leave at the door when we leave at the end of the day. 🥺

There is nothing quite like giving a rescue dog a loving home❣️

Most end up in shelters, rescue groups or on the street at no fault of their own. Some may need some training or guidance on how dogs should behave. Some just need love❤️.

💥Let's talk Heartworms! 🤢

💥Although we do not have an abundant cases of Heartworm in Newfoundland! 👏

💥We do have dogs coming into Newfoundland with Heartworm and we have the evil 👿 mosquitos🦟 that are required to transmit the parasite.

💥As you can tell by the pic courtesy of the American Heartworm Society, these worms cause damage to the heart 🫀 and can cause death. 😭

💥Prevention is the key point. Make sure your parasite Prevention/protection includes a heartworm dewormer❣️

Puppies can go from healthy, happy puppies to a crisis in the blink of an eye!😲

Jarge, a 6-week old Cane Corso puppy, was rushed into the clinic earlier this week in respiratory distress. With quick intervention, our team had him on oxygen and a diagnosis of pneumonia was determined in no time.

Intense nursing, medication, coupage, cold air, steam sauna application, Jarge turned around quickly. He found his voice and was back to a rambunctious puppy and was gone home to finish his treatment within 24 hours.

As you can tell, he had a little photo shoot with props before he was discharged.

All of the staff fell in love with his icy eyes and sweet demeanor. 💙
