There's a narrative going around that private vets can just step in and replace the public system. It sounds simple enough but it's just not the reality.

There is no province-wide private capacity ready to take over. This is especially true in rural New Brunswick where private practice is limited and distances are long. You can't replace a system overnight that took decades to build.

Cutting public vet services doesn't create a solution. It creates a gap that rural farmers and communities will be left to figure out on their own.

Some people are calling provincial vet services "Medicare for livestock" like farmers are getting a free ride.

They're not. Producers already pay for these services. What's at risk is a system that protects food safety, disease control and farm viability for every single New Brunswicker.

Cutting it doesn't save money, it just moves the cost onto farmers and eventually onto all of us.

Join us tomorrow in front of the Legislative Assembly in Fredericton from 10am - 3pm to take a stand and protect what's right.

I have been reading friends stories and notes of thanks about their vets. I have wanted to do so also, but I just didn't know where to begin. I have been a client of Provincial Veterinary Services for 50 years. For 40 years Dr. Keith Murch had been our vet, and a friendship that we still cherish to this day. When he moved to Ottawa, I remember wondering who would be replacing him, hoping for another great vet. Veterinarians are the lifeline of our business. Shortly after, I met our new vet Dr. Ashley Scholten who later became Dr. Ashley McCarthy. She was amazing and we clicked. She more than understood the care required by a barn full of school horses to keep them healthy and comfortable. I wanted to share one of the many serious issues she has had to handle here, during the day and during the night on emergency call, but the truth is there were too many to choose from. Instead I decided to share just one incident that shows her dedication to her job, her clients and most of all the animals. It was a Friday, her last day of work before maternity leave, and she was trying to get all her clients needs taken care of. It was five o'clock when we noticed that my broodmare's leg had blown up clear to her chest with cellulitis, and I called. Without hesitation she said it's going to be a little while until I am finished up with this call but I will be there. Sure enough, almost 7pm she arrived and took care of her. I don't know what time she got home that night but she gave birth to her 3rd child 36 hours later. That is true dedication!! She is married with three children and works long days, and the long nights on emergency call and yet she always smiles to reassure me when she arrives here. We are all so grateful for her. ❤️

All the vets at PVS are amazing and work harder than anyone I know.❤️ They have all been here at one time or another and we are grateful for them too. They are the lifeline of our business.

Congratulations to Serena Springer on another great show! This time she made her debut with Grady in showmanship and western pleasure! She got 3rd in showmanship out of 18 entries and 4th in Western pleasure out of 17 entries. She won the Hunter Under Saddle out of 14 entries and 2nd in the equitation out of 13.

It is TF Show Horses Taylor Folkertsma MacIsaac and her entourage that makes these shows so enjoyable. Thanks for all you do!♥️

Lastly I have found a new barn manager 😅. He is only 4 years old but has one heck of a work ethic! He saw Kelly cleaning a stall with her basket manure fork, and asked her what kind of a fork it was. Kelly said just one that holds more manure. He asked to borrow it and went to try it out on Stephanie's stall. Works great he says! 🤣🤣. Love hearing Brody stories!!

Hello folks,

All of us here at Sterling Creek are sending all our best healing vibes to Gabbie, who broke her leg (femur and possibly ACL) yesterday during a football game. She is having surgery this morning and we will all be thinking of her. ♥️♥️♥️
