I have been reading friends stories and notes of thanks about their vets. I have wanted to do so also, but I just didn't know where to begin. I have been a client of Provincial Veterinary Services for 50 years. For 40 years Dr. Keith Murch had been our vet, and a friendship that we still cherish to this day. When he moved to Ottawa, I remember wondering who would be replacing him, hoping for another great vet. Veterinarians are the lifeline of our business. Shortly after, I met our new vet Dr. Ashley Scholten who later became Dr. Ashley McCarthy. She was amazing and we clicked. She more than understood the care required by a barn full of school horses to keep them healthy and comfortable. I wanted to share one of the many serious issues she has had to handle here, during the day and during the night on emergency call, but the truth is there were too many to choose from. Instead I decided to share just one incident that shows her dedication to her job, her clients and most of all the animals. It was a Friday, her last day of work before maternity leave, and she was trying to get all her clients needs taken care of. It was five o'clock when we noticed that my broodmare's leg had blown up clear to her chest with cellulitis, and I called. Without hesitation she said it's going to be a little while until I am finished up with this call but I will be there. Sure enough, almost 7pm she arrived and took care of her. I don't know what time she got home that night but she gave birth to her 3rd child 36 hours later. That is true dedication!! She is married with three children and works long days, and the long nights on emergency call and yet she always smiles to reassure me when she arrives here. We are all so grateful for her. ❤️
All the vets at PVS are amazing and work harder than anyone I know.❤️ They have all been here at one time or another and we are grateful for them too. They are the lifeline of our business.
