When I look out on the dog training and dog owning social media landscape, and I witness the overwhelming onslaught of horribly behaved dogs, with their overwhelmed owners—and the absolutely inane training remedies that are on offer and are taken seriously—I can’t help but see how it’s all just the predictable downstream effects of a fundamental societal weakening, permissiveness, and fragility.

As I’ve said countless times, dogs haven’t changed, we have.

Having a well behaved, non-reactive, safe, easy to live with, fun to have around, take anywhere dog… simply isn’t a big ask or heavy lift.

Unless you make it so.

While we’re all susceptible to societal influences, it is indeed up to us to separate the positive from the negative, the healthy from the toxic, the truth from the lies.

There’s no getting around the fact that much of current society has become incredibly soft, emotionally-obsessed, discipline averse, and dislikers of reality.

Which means—for those infected by this social programming—having healthy, balanced, safe, and enjoyable dogs will usually be impossible.

Which means—it’s not the dogs that are the problem, it’s us.

PS, I know many will bristle at this and share how their situation is indeed different. While I’m well aware of the outliers, they are, by definition, outliers. 99% of the behavior issues out there aren’t outliers—they’re just normal dogs who have the bad luck of being dogs in our frighteningly weak, pathologically emotional, pansified society.

So in a bizarre turn of events, Flirt came into heat just days after our fall trial. So what to do, what to do... This mating was planned, just not the date! LOL
So you reach out to your stud owner, who happens to live in NEBRASKA, and you say, "Hey Bruce Scheiber, want to meet at Tom Zinn's house in Ontario for a little doggy date?" (not exact words)
So, 60 hours later, we're both back home, hoping the T-Litter is in the oven. 🤞🍀🐾
