Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club SHRC is a hunting retriever club located in the Fredericton area. All retriever breeds are welcome.

Founded in 1982, the Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club is a non-profit organization devoted to the development and exhibition of the inherent natural talents and trained skills of the various retriever dogs. We are active members of both the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and the National Retriever Club of Canada, two organizations that are committed to the utmost quality standards in ethical dog breedi

ng and training. As a committed member our club has the honour of hosting CKC Working Certificate Tests, Hunt Tests, and Field Trials here in New Brunswick. The retriever has a centuries old tradition of hunting heritage both within Canada and around the globe; a tradition which we hope to support long into the future so that both our partnership with these skilled animals and Canada's rich hunting heritage will continue. Our Club endeavours to promote our commitment to high ethical standards in hunting practices and commitment to wetland conservation. In keeping with our above mentioned commitments, Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club humbly requests your support in our endeavour to expand our organization in order to promote public knowledge of what is possible when retrieving dogs are joined with the proven training practices and committed dog owners.

Wow,Wow Wow A huge Congratulations to Walt Vessey and Cracker and Yannick Fergusson and Tikka for a Stellar performance in Qualifying at the CMNH Tests in Hamilton Ontario.. A gruling and demanding 5 day event for sure. Also major kudos go out to our other Maritime Teams who participated and made us all proud. Well Done and a Great Performance on The Big Stage. Cheers

Huge Shout Out to The Moncton Retriever Club for putting in a fantastic Field Trial this past weekend. The grounds were magnificent. The work that Leslie Hoar, Alex and Evelyn Hoyt and other Club Members put into this was Second to None. Two All Age Open trials as well as a Junior and Qualifying Trial. Participants were here from Ontario, Quebec, PEI and NB. Congratulations to our local Maritimers who were so successful. Walt Vessey and Trooper (PEI) who earned FTCH Title, Shawn MacNutt and Scout (PEI) earned second place in Open, Shawn MacNutt (PEI) and Simba earned CM in Open, Troy MacKenzie and Moxie ( PEI) earned JFTR, Leslie Hoar and Roxy (NB) earned JFTR. DJ Harnett and Mildred (NB) earned 4 place in Qualifying . What an amazing showing by our Maritime Clubs on the big stage. Congratulations to all.

Day 1 is a wrap! Lots of ribbons handed out to hardworking dogs and handlers.

Tomorrow’s start times:
Junior & Senior: 7:30am
Master: 8:30am

We will begin with Junior/Senior/Master land in the upper field, with parking etc. the same as where we started today.

Congrats to all who participated! Let’s do it again tomorrow!

Test start times tomorrow:
Junior/Senior = 7:30am
Master = not before 9am

Test will start with Junior & Senior, with Master to follow after the conclusion of Junior/Senior. Master is not expected to start before 9am. Master competitors are not required to be on the test grounds prior to 9am.

Vehicles are asked to park no further than the training room until Junior/Senior tests finish.
