Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club

Directions

Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club SHRC is a hunting retriever club located in the Fredericton area. All retriever breeds are welcome.

Founded in 1982, the Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club is a non-profit organization devoted to the development and exhibition of the inherent natural talents and trained skills of the various retriever dogs. We are active members of both the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and the National Retriever Club of Canada, two organizations that are committed to the utmost quality standards in ethical dog breeding and training. As a committed member our club has the honour of hosting CKC Working Certificate Tests, Hunt Tests, and Field Trials here in New Brunswick. The retriever has a centuries old tradition of hunting heritage both within Canada and around the globe; a tradition which we hope to support long into the future so that both our partnership with these skilled animals and Canada's rich hunting heritage will continue. Our Club endeavours to promote our commitment to high ethical standards in hunting practices and commitment to wetland conservation. In keeping with our above mentioned commitments, Sunpoke Hunting Retriever Club humbly requests your support in our endeavour to expand our organization in order to promote public knowledge of what is possible when retrieving dogs are joined with the proven training practices and committed dog owners.

Well that is a wrap for the season. The SHRC held the last test of the season and what a great weekend it was. We hosted teams from Quebec, Ontario, main land Nova Scotia, Cape Breton Island and locations all over NB. Over the 2 days we had 65 dogs entered. and saw some stellar work. Huge thanks go out to Pamela Dunn and Derek Dunn for the use of their fabulous property, also to the Judges, Gunners, and all the members who spent their days in the field ensuring that things were well organized and went well. Also presented to Yannick Fergusson and his side kick Tika the first annual Maritime Master Hunt Test Dog of the year. A beautiful Trophy, Crafted by Cody Tingley and sponsored by Matthew Wilson(Matitime Dog Training) We would also like to thank Inukshuk for providing product and supporting us. Wishing all a successful hunt season, and see you in the spring. Happy Training. Cheers
