πŸ‚πŸ¦ƒ Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!!! πŸ¦ƒπŸ‚

What's more important than making sure the turkey is cooked just right? πŸ— Keeping our furry friends from stealing it! 🐾🐢😺

There's so much delicious food to be served at Thanksgiving dinner, but not all of it is safe for our pets! Check out the photo below for a list of Thanksgiving food dangers as well as pet safety tips! ⚠️

❗Unsure if certain food is safe for your pet? ❗ Better to be safe than sorry and avoid giving table scraps. Instead, pick up some special treats from the pet store so they don't get left out of the celebration 🐢🦴🍀🐱🐾

Throw Back Thursday featuring Rosie! πŸ’•πŸ±

We had the pleasure of seeing 🐱 Rosie 🐱for her first vet visit and her spay last year and then again for an annual wellness and vaccine appointment! We love seeing our patients grow up into adulthood and reminisce of when they were just a tiny baby πŸ₯°πŸ’• Rosie has grown into a beautiful kitty this past year 🐱❀️

It is super important for your pet to stay up to date on their vaccines and exams so we can make sure they are in tip top shape every year! 🐢🐱 Yearly exams also help us catch any health issues early before they develop too far. 🩺❀️

Please make sure your pet has enough medications and food for the long weekend. We kindly ask that you don't wait till last minute to request a refill of your pets meditations as there is an influx of refill requests before long weekends. The team needs adequate time to process the orders and fill the medications, and some medications need to be specifically ordered to the clinic in which can take up to a week to arrive.

πŸ–€πŸΆ October 1st is National Black Dog Day! πŸΆπŸ–€

❓Did you know that people are less likely to adopt black dogs from shelters because of their colour❓ This phenomenon is known as Black Dog Syndrome (similar to black cat syndrome).

Here's a brief list as to why it's harder to find a home for black dogs:
- They are subconsciously associated with aggressive behaviour or danger
- Black dogs' facial features are more difficult to distinguish, which hides their personalities and makes it harder to connect with potential adopters
- While black isn't the most common dog colour, black dogs are often perceived as "ordinary," and people often choose dogs with flashier appearances
- Because black dogs are difficult to photograph, people are not as likely to adopt them based on photos alone πŸ“Έ

Some great reasons to consider adopting a black dog:
βœ”οΈ Black dogs are just as loyal and loving as dogs of any other colour πŸ–€πŸΆ
βœ”οΈ Black fur hides dirt well, which is beneficial when you've been too busy for that dog bath or grooming session! πŸ›
βœ”οΈ They look fantastic in autumnal and winter photos. The contrast between their fur and the orange/white is incredible! πŸβ„οΈπŸ“Έ
βœ”οΈ A black dog is a perfect accessory for any outfit. They go with anything! 🐢
βœ”οΈ They're fantastic snuggle buddies πŸ–€
βœ”οΈ There are plenty of black dogs to choose from in shelters πŸ–€

What can you do to help on National Black Dog Day?
πŸ–€ Adopt a black dog! πŸ–€πŸΆ
πŸ–€ Volunteer at the local shelter πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ
πŸ–€ Make a donation (money, dog food, toys, etc) πŸ’΅πŸ¦΄πŸ§Έ
