🐴 SURVIVOR CAMP IS ALMOST HERE!

Next week, some of our experienced young riders are taking over Willow Grove for one of our favourite traditions — Survivor Camp!

Five days of horses, learning, challenges, friendships and a whole lot of fun.

This year’s camp includes:

🐴 Gymnastic jumping with Lisa MacKay
🌿 Grass ring jumping with Trish + a Special Guest Coach
🩹 Equine first aid, bandaging & horse care
🧠 Horsemanship, wellness & stretching with Danielle
🏆 Course strategy & rider development
📚 Rider Level preparation & testing opportunities
🎨 A special art workshop with Sarah Hubbell
🎤 Team building, games, karaoke & movie night
🥞 Our traditional Friday sleep-in & pancake breakfast

And we’re finishing the week with a very special day with High Performance Coach & Master Horse Trainer Wendy Johnston.

Survivor Camp has never been just about spending more time in the saddle.

🐴 Adult Horsemanship Night with Danielle
Tuesday, August 11 | 5:00–7:00 PM

Sometimes the best learning happens out of the saddle.

Join Danielle for a fun, hands-on evening designed especially for our adult riders. We’ll slow things down, spend some quality time with the horses, and dig into the everyday horsemanship skills that make us better, more confident horse people.

We’ll cover:

🐴 Safe, confident handling
🪣 Basic care & everyday horse management
❤️ Wellness — what to notice and what your horse may be telling you
🤸 Stretching techniques to help keep our horses comfortable and feeling their best
💬 Your questions! Bring along anything you’ve been wondering about.

This isn’t a test and you definitely don’t need to know all the answers. It’s an opportunity to learn, ask questions, share experiences and enjoy an evening at the barn with our adult-rider community.

At Willow Grove Stable, we’re more than a boarding and lesson facility—we’re a community built around exceptional horse care, lifelong learning, and a genuine passion for horses.

As our programs continue to grow, we’re looking for the next great addition to our team.

We are currently hiring:

🐴 Full-Time Stable Hand/Barn Assistant
or
🐴 Part-Time Stable Hands (multiple positions may be available)

We are open to finding one outstanding full-time team member or two reliable part-time individuals.

Responsibilities include:

• Daily feeding and horse care
• Stall cleaning and barn maintenance
• Turnout and bringing horses in
• Watering and feeding management
• General property maintenance
• Working alongside our experienced team to provide outstanding care for our horses and clients

We’re looking for someone who:

✔ Has horse experience (preferred)
✔ Is reliable and takes pride in their work
✔ Is physically fit and enjoys working outdoors
✔ Works well independently and as part of a team
✔ Has a positive attitude and is eager to learn

This position offers the opportunity to work in a supportive environment where quality horse care is always our highest priority. Additional responsibilities and opportunities for growth may be available for the right candidate.

Three days. Three disciplines. Countless “aha!” moments. 💛🐴

Last week we wrapped up our Annual Precision Performance Camp, and what an incredible few days it was.

We spent three days reminding ourselves that becoming a better rider isn’t about chasing bigger jumps. It’s about building stronger foundations.

On Day 1, we slowed things down and focused on equitation. Position, balance, feel, and effectiveness. We discovered that when the rider improves, the horse has every opportunity to improve too.

Day 2 challenged everyone to think like jumper riders. Finding the right pace, planning the track, making smart decisions, and learning that the fastest round is rarely the one ridden in a hurry.

Then we finished with my favourite… our Hunter Derby Challenge. Riders learned to create beautiful, flowing rounds where rhythm, style, and partnership mattered just as much as clearing the fences.

One of the highlights of the camp was watching riders step outside their comfort zones by riding different horses. Every horse asked different questions, and every rider grew because of it. That’s where real horsemanship happens.

Between rides, we laughed, learned, supported one another, talked horses, explored leadership, and created memories that will last far longer than any ribbon.

Watching these young riders encourage each other, celebrate successes, work through challenges, and leave with more confidence than they arrived with reminded me why I love coaching.

A huge thank you to our wonderful riders for bringing your curiosity, determination, and positive attitudes every single day. You made this camp everything I had hoped it would be.

Here’s to becoming the rider every horse wants to have. 💛

What a weekend. 💚🐴

Horse shows are never just about ribbons.

They’re about early mornings, shared snacks, cheering from the rail, celebrating the wins, learning from the mistakes, and heading home just a little better than when you arrived.

I’m so proud of Kaya & Molly, Victoria & Fritz, and Vanessa & Camden.

Each partnership showed determination, sportsmanship, and kindness throughout the weekend. Every round, every class, every challenge is another step in becoming better riders—and better horsemen.

Our horses deserve just as much recognition. They carried their riders with heart, patience, and generosity all weekend long. They truly are our greatest teachers.

A huge thank you to Paramount for hosting another wonderful show. Joe, Justine, Emily, and the entire team created such a welcoming atmosphere for riders and families. It takes an incredible amount of work behind the scenes, and we appreciate all that you do.

Thank you as well to our amazing support crew. Holly Janzen for schooling day support, cheerleader Christine Waldroff, our wonderful parents, and everyone who pitched in with helping hands, delicious lunches, snacks, encouragement, and plenty of laughs—you make weekends like this possible.

At Willow Grove, we believe horse showing is about so much more than results.

It’s about confidence.
It’s about resilience.
It’s about learning responsibility, sportsmanship, teamwork… and discovering that sometimes your biggest victory isn’t the ribbon you take home—it’s the lesson you learned along the way.

Canada Day at Willow Grove is always a little more fun when our riders and horses get into the spirit!

Brady and Cruz, along with Mackenzie and Donovan, proudly flew the Maple Leaf today—and I think it’s safe to say the horses understood the assignment. 🇨🇦🐴

There’s something special about growing up in a barn. You learn responsibility, resilience, kindness… and, apparently, how to convince a horse to wear a Canada visor or tiny flags without too many complaints. 😄

We’re grateful to share this beautiful country with incredible horses, wonderful families, and young riders who remind us every day that the future is bright.

Happy Canada Day from all of us at Willow Grove! ❤️🍁
