🍂🦌 Hunting Season Is Here - Keep Your Pets Safe Outdoors! 🐕🐈

As hunting season gets underway, it’s a good time to take a few extra precautions when enjoying the outdoors with your pets. A walk in the woods can be a great adventure, but increased hunting activity means there are some additional safety considerations for our four-legged companions.

🦺 Make you and your pet highly visible.
Bright orange, reflective gear or a high-visibility vest can make your dog much easier to spot. Dress yourself in bright colours, too.

🐕 Keep dogs close and under control.
Even well-trained dogs should be kept on leash when walking in areas where hunting or trapping may be taking place. A dog that wanders off the trail or into the woods can accidentally encounter a leg-hold trap, snare, or other trapping equipment, potentially resulting in serious injury. Keeping your dog close and on leash helps prevent them from investigating areas or objects that may pose a danger.

🔔 Know where you’re going.
Before heading out, check whether hunting is permitted in the area and be aware of local hunting seasons and regulations. Stick to familiar trails and avoid areas where active hunting is taking place whenever possible.

🩹 Be prepared for the unexpected.
Dogs can encounter traps, barbed wire, wildlife, fishing equipment and other hazards while exploring. Carry a basic pet first-aid kit and make sure your pet's identification tags and microchip information are up to date.

🚫 And remember: never allow your pet to investigate or approach hunting equipment, carcasses, or wildlife.

A little extra awareness can go a long way toward making sure hunting season is safe for everyone... two-legged and four-legged alike! ❤️

🎓🐾 Congratulations, Ella! 🐾🎓

Yesterday was a bittersweet day at the clinic as we said goodbye to Ella, who has been an important part of our team for the past two years.

Over that time, Ella has brought her compassion, dedication, hard work, and love for animals to everything she has done. We are incredibly grateful for all of the time, energy, and care she has given to our patients and their families. She will certainly be missed around the clinic! 💕

But while we’re sad to see her go, we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead… Ella has been accepted into veterinary school! 🎉🐶🐱

This is such an incredible accomplishment, and we are so proud of her for taking this next step toward becoming a veterinarian. We have no doubt that she will bring the same kindness, passion, and dedication to her future career that she brought to our team.

Ella, we’ve loved having you as part of our clinic family and we’re so excited to watch you chase this dream. We wish you all the best on this exciting new adventure! 🩺🐾❤️
