Unfortunately, as my health issues are progressing, I will be pretty much closing down the shop for the foreseeable future.

I will definitely finish the current orders i have...and feel free to contact me for custom work. I cannot guarantee a timeline, but I would rather have something to do, while I am feeling capable!

Skirt orders have started, and this year is possibly your last chance to have one made by Rabbit Run...so get those orders in, if you were thinking about having one made!!

I do have several Ground Grazers made up with snaps...these may be the only ones left, as my machine is now being very persnickety about stitching the netting, and replacing it is not in the cards at the present.

I appreciate everyone who I have made items for, done blankets for, worked together on new or unavailable products in Canada with, and clients that have become friends since I opened in 2019 or 2018...lol, I can't remember what year at the moment 🤣.

If things improve with my health, I will definitely open the shop again!

Thank you for your understanding, and fingers crossed for a restart in the future!

Ground Grazers are a great way to feed on the ground, without the mess. Your horse can throw them around, figure out how to get more hay out of them.
They are pretty tough, and stand up well!

Unfortunately, they are not reccomended for horses with shoes...those guys can get into enough trouble already, catching shoes on things.

Just a thought — we probably shouldn’t expect horses to spend 16 hours every day in one single feeding posture. šŸ’

In free-ranging horses living in a natural environment, feeding involves continual changes in:

• neck angle
• limb position
• body orientation
• roaming
• reaching
• turning
• grazing on slopes and varied terrain

We often fixate on the groundwork/ridden work, however do we really give enough attention to how our horse eats for the rest of their day?

The way in which our horse eats adds to their daily ā€œpostural loadā€, it influences how their tissues are recruited, and it really does deserve as much attention as their exercise.

So, haynets?

A study comparing horses eating from the ground, hay racks and elevated hay nets found that higher feeding positions consistently altered head and neck posture. Horses fed from elevated systems spent significantly more time with their neck held above wither height and showed greater head twisting while grasping forage (Hernadez Garbati, 2025).

Looking at the morphology, neck posture was affected by feeding position… but crucially, the mandibular angle was significantly wider when horses were fed on the ground.

In a study by Zebish et al. (2014), hyperflexion of the neck in ridden horses led to changes in the width of the mandibular angle as a welfare stress factor. It was associated with an increase in neck circumference and in the thickness of the jaw muscle, with a consequent compression of the larynx, thus reducing air exchange and producing higher flow resistance. From this, research has extrapolated the data and drawn attention to the fact that high haynets could affect the jaw joint over time, in addition to the functionality of the horses breathing, back and neck posture (Hernandez Garbati, 2025). Even though a lower hay net promoted a better back posture than a high haynet, it was not sufficient to maintain a neck posture and mandibular angle similar to that obtained from horses fed from the floor.

However — we do need to look beyond the haynets, and consider varying feeding postures to mimic their natural environment as much as possible.

Hello All,

Unfortunately, due to my fairly recent health changes, and the 3 week wait on my sewing machine, I have decided to stop taking orders until August.

This may be pushed back...it will depend on health issues.
I am having a difficult time catching up, never mind keeping up with new orders.

Anything that is currently on order, and in the process of being ordered, will still be made!

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. Fingers crossed šŸ¤ž for my health to get back to "normal" soon!

I finally got my embroidery machine repaired.

Anyone who has used a home embroidery machine, knows they are not fast...still do a great job though.
As I do not embroider much, it works out for me.

My first job was embroidering 49 hoodies for a good friend's Celebration of Life, to give away to her friends and family.

Colors had to be adjusted for almost every hoody, as there are 2 colors in each "logo" and adjusted depending on the color of the hoody.
Then placement had to be adjusted from left chest to upper spine, depending on graphics already on the hoodies.

49 hoodies, 15 mins per hoody for set up, embroidery, changing thread and clean up.
That's 12 hours and 15 mins!
I did about 6 hours at home before I left, and the rest when I got there.

This is why embroidery can be expensive! Add on to that, the purchase and maintenance of the machine.

This was a labor of love, and the least I could do for great friends.

A little late notice...I will be away from the shop until Monday afternoon, due to personal reasons.
My machine is back, and I have been doing a lot of catch up last week.
Unfortunately, with ongoing health issues, and appointments...I am not getting much more then 3 hours in the shop daily...very annoying!
I apologize for all of the delays happening, and hopefully can get caught up the week I am back.

I've done a ton of embroidery for a close friend recently, and will post pics shortly.
