Tick Season Is Coming!

As the snow melts and temperatures start to rise, tick season is right around the corner. In our region, ticks typically become active in April and stay active through the fall, especially in grassy areas, forests, and along hiking trails.

Ticks aren’t just a nuisance, they can carry diseases that affect both pets and people. Because ticks often attach and feed before you even notice them, prevention is the safest and easiest way to protect your pet.

For dogs, we carry NexGard and NexGard Spectra, monthly chewables that help protect against fleas, ticks, and additional internal parasites. Many dogs take them like a treat, making them a convenient option for ongoing protection.

For our feline patients, we carry NexGard Combo. This topical treatment provides protection against fleas and ticks while also covering several common internal parasites.

Even indoor pets can be exposed, ticks can hitch a ride inside on clothing, shoes, or other animals.

Did you know? If your pet has been seen for a consult within the past year, all it takes is a quick phone call and we can get their flea and tick prevention ready for you. If not, give us a call and we can book a consult to get them set up.
