🐾 MEET THE RVT: KRISTIN!🐾

We’re continuing our Meet the RVT series at Prairie Animal Health Centre, celebrating the incredible people who care for our patients and their families every day! 💙

Today, we’re getting to know Kristin, who has been part of the PAHC team since January 2004! That’s over 20 years of dedication to animal health! 🎉

🐶 Her Journey: Kristin knew she wanted to become a vet tech after caring for her childhood dog, Scully, who needed daily wound care. She was the only one he would let care for him, and that experience helped shape her future career. ❤️

💕 What She Loves: Kristin loves working with long-term cases because she gets to know both the patients and their families. Building those special relationships is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

🐾 A Career Moment She’ll Never Forget: One of her first hospitalized patients was a dog named Jake, who spent weeks in their care. Watching him improve a little each day is a memory that has stayed with her throughout her career.

✨Advice to Her Younger Self: Enjoy the journey, keep showing up, and remember that it’s all worth it! More than 20 years later, Kristin is still showing up with a smile. 💙

🐬 Fun Fact: Kristin once spent a day as a dolphin trainer in Mexico, and they actually offered her a job! Talk about a memorable vacation experience! 🌊

🐾 MEET THE RVT: COURTNEY!🐾

We’re continuing our Meet the RVT series at Prairie Animal Health Centre as we celebrate the amazing RVTs who make a difference for animals and their families every day! 💙

Today, we’re getting to know Courtney, who will be celebrating 10 years as an RVT in 2027! 🎉 And her journey started right here at PAHC!

🐾 Why She Chose This Career: Courtney loves helping animals and being the bridge between a healthy pet and their family. She’s also passionate about being a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves. 💕

🐄 What She Loves: No two days are ever the same! One day, Courtney might be out helping with pregnancy-checking cows, and the next she could be cleaning a dog’s teeth. You never know what the day will bring, and that’s part of the fun!

✨ A Career to Remember: Courtney says working as an RVT at PAHC has given her opportunities to do so many incredible things she never thought possible. There are simply too many memorable moments to pick just one!

💙 Advice to Her Younger Self: Be confident and caring. That’s what your patients need most!

🐶 Favourite Animal: Dogs! Courtney has a special four-legged friend of her own, Pepper, who has been part of her life for 9 years. Cattle are a close runner-up! 🐄

💙 Plan B Career: Courtney honestly can’t imagine not being an RVT, and we’re pretty happy she chose this path, too!

🧩 Fun Fact: Courtney loves making puzzles and has even won a team puzzle-making competition! She also enjoys cross-stitching, proving that this busy RVT has a crafty side.

Courtney’s compassion, confidence, and love for animals shine through in everything she does. We’re so lucky to have her on the PAHC team! 💙

🐾 MEET THE RVT: KATIE! 🐾

We’re continuing our Meet the RVT series at Prairie Animal Health Centre as we celebrate the amazing people behind the scrubs! 💙

Today, we’re introducing Katie, who recently started her career as an RVT and is already making a difference on our team!

🐶 Her Journey: Katie’s love for animals grew from caring for her family dogs, who experienced medical challenges when she was growing up. That passion led her to pursue veterinary technology, with her journey beginning right here at PAHC Estevan while completing Sask Polytech’s distance program!

🐱 What She Loves: KITTENS!!! 😻 While kittens are definitely a favourite, Katie says it’s hard to choose just one thing she loves about her job because veterinary medicine is rewarding in so many ways.

🦷 A Career Moment She’ll Never Forget: Katie had the unique opportunity to have her dad help with a dental surgery case! It was fascinating to see the connections between human dentistry and veterinary dentistry.

✨ Advice to Her Younger Self: It takes time and practice, and you won’t be perfect. Just do your best! A great reminder for anyone starting something new.

Over the next couple of weeks, Prairie Animal Health Centre is celebrating the incredible Registered Veterinary Technologists (RVTs) who play such an important role in caring for our patients!

But what does RVT actually stand for? What education is required to become one? And what do RVTs do behind the scenes to help keep your pets healthy and safe?

We're launching our Meet the RVT series to introduce you to our amazing team, share some fun facts, and highlight the education, skills, and compassion that go into this rewarding profession.

Every herd is different, and your fall vaccination program should be tailored to your herd's needs. Now is the time to start planning and getting your vaccine orders in!

📦 Don't wait until the last minute! With the possibility of backorders this fall, ordering early helps ensure you have the products you need when you need them.

🐄 Early calvers, take note! If your cows start calving in January, now is also the time to think about scour prevention. Planning ahead helps ensure the appropriate vaccines are in stock and ready when you need them.

Vaccination is an important part of herd health management, helping protect against disease and reduce the risk of disease spreading throughout your herd.
