Our brand new spacious 12,000 sq. ft state of the art facility is situated on 45 acres near the West Montrose Covered Bridge, located north of Waterloo and West of Guelph. We are open all year round and offers a variety of services from training, self grooming and a pet wash, retail and more. Our facility was designed with our clients in mind: maximum comfort, safety, minimal stress and maintaining basic manners while your dog is here.We offer customized options for all your dogs needs. Imagine you finally sit down to eat your favourite dinner…

You’re a few bites in when someone reaches across the table and sticks their hand in your food.

You pull your plate closer.
They do it again.

Then they take your plate away completely.
You get it back… only for them to come over and mess with it again.

How long before you start getting annoyed when you see them coming?

Now think about your dog.
For years, people have been told to stick their hands in their puppy’s food bowl, take food away, or mess with them while they eat so they “don’t become resource guarders.”

But there’s a difference between teaching your dog to safely give something up and constantly testing whether they’ll let you take it.

We absolutely want our dogs to have rules and boundaries around resources. We want to be able to safely take something when necessary, and we want our dogs to understand an out, drop or leave it.

But if they’re peacefully eating something they’re allowed to have?
Let them eat.

Sometimes preventing resource guarding starts with not creating unnecessary conflict
around resources in the first place.

WE’RE HIRING: PART-TIME KENNEL ATTENDANT

Endeavour K9 is looking for a dependable, hardworking individual to join our team in West Montrose.

Our kennel attendants play an important role in maintaining the safe, structured and professional standard of care our clients expect. This is an active, hands-on position that involves much more than playing with dogs.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Handling, walking and caring for dogs of all sizes
• Feeding, basic grooming and administering medications
• Monitoring and documenting health and behaviour
• Maintaining exceptionally clean kennels and work areas
• Assisting with customer service and daily facility operations
• Supporting training staff and following established handling protocols
• Working safely with dogs that may have behavioural concerns or bite histories

Applicants must:

• Be at least 18 years old
• Have a minimum of one year of professional animal-care experience
• Be available for rotating shifts between 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM, including weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays
• Have reliable transportation
• Be comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Be able to lift more than 50 lbs and remain physically active throughout the shift
• Be calm, patient, observant and dependable
• Be willing to use the training and handling tools used at Endeavour K9

Professional experience means paid or formal experience working with animals. Owning pets or caring for animals belonging to friends and family does not meet this requirement.

Conflict of Interest

Applicants must disclose if they currently own, operate, work for or provide services to a dog-training, pet-sitting, dog-walking, daycare or boarding business. Any potential conflict of interest must be reviewed and approved by Endeavour K9 before employment.

Position: Permanent Part-Time
Location: West Montrose, Ontario shift

This position is best suited to someone calm, reliable and willing to work hard. Professional animal experience is required.
