I love it when the horse get to a point the owners can get involved and learn ❤️ this boy was an touched two year old stud c**t when I started with him on August 17. What’s the hardest part of training?
It’s not the time, it’s not the work.
It’s listening!! Listening to the horse is the hardest part of training because let’s face it some horses just don’t fit into the mold we humans have created for them.

Some horses need more than 30,60,90 days to process and learn.

Some horses catch on immediately and learn so much more in the small frames we put them in.

Some horses take more time to trust someone new.
Some horses immediately trust whoever holds the lead rope.

Some horses are so insecure in themselves their own shadow scares them.
While others you could set a bomb off under their feet and not get a reaction.

Some horses are immediately defensive and have a wall so high it takes 20 days to climb
Where others really need to learn to think for themselves.

Training horses is amazing, the personalities and dispositions are honestly all over the map, it keeps us on our toes and constantly learning how to adjust our energies and approach a lesson differently.

The old saying goes “there is more than one way to skin a cat” and that statement is so true in the horse training world.
There is more than one way to train a horse. As trainers it’s our job to be open and searching for those ways.

I’ve been told I need to push the horses more that come into my training programs. The reality is I’m already pushing them as much as they are able to handle at the current time.

The horses well being and trainability will always take priority in my programs. I know how fast you can turn a horse sour or lose their trust.
I know because I have done it. I have hands on, face in the dirt, hoof to the leg, I believe I can fly moments in my life where I pushed to hard and didn’t listen.

The responsibility my clients give me to start their horses is the most important part in a horses career. I set the foundation to how they carry on in life after they have been with me. My training sets the foundation to their success or failure in the future and I take that very seriously.

It probably makes me a horrible business person but I’d rather be a horrible business person that can set horses up for success than a great business person who doesn’t care about the horses future.

I tell all my clients and future clients this is my program - these are the guidelines of what we accomplish within 30-60-90 days. But they are guidelines alone because ultimately the horse sets the pace.

Being able to listen to the horses in my program and slow things down or speed things up as they need is where my programs work.

I’m still learning - I will always been learning. And I will forever be grateful for the opportunities, experiences and moments I’m blessed with when it comes to training and working with horses.

These two ❤️ completely earned their retirements at 25 and 30 years old respectively their health pushed me to study nutrition, massage therapy, light therapy and ask questions, get second opinions and give them the best life possible by being as educated as I can be and not afraid to seek out knowledgeable sources to help me keep them happy and healthy. Everything I learned from and for them I apply to all the horses in my care ❤️❤️❤️

For those of you who know me personally, you know everything Equine is my passion! From massage therapy, farrier work, training to digestion, herd dynamics and everything in between it interests me.
What does that means for my clients?
✨Quality knowledgeable care, training and management!
Not only have I studied and done the theory work I have applied these studies and theories, tweaked them, discussed them and found a program of success that works!
✨Hands on Experience, horses have been apart of my life since I was young. I’ve treated wounds, rehabilitated horses from major injuries, watched a foal be born and sat with the ones that were finally ready to cross the rainbow bridge.
✨Versatile Training Methods. I started riding Western, at the age of 7 I focused on English disciplines jumping, dressage, pleasure. As an Adult I expanded from the basics in Western Disciplines, barrel racing, pleasure, reining. I have attended clinics from ground work and c**t starting to finishing clinics in reining, dressage, jumping.
✨Patience and Confidence Foundation, I have made mistakes on this journey, I’ve fallen, been bucked off, had wrecks both in the saddle and on the ground. I have learned the hard way that patience and building confidence are the best approach for any challenge.

Knowing when to do less is key. In everything we do sometimes less is more. Keeping things simple is sometimes the answers. All the horses in my care get treated just like my own and the main thing I focus on is body condition. If they aren’t getting the calories or supplement they need to maintain their body weight and all around health they can’t perform to the best of their abilities.

We often don't even get him in a learning frame of mind before we begin to train him. We don't even have him relaxed and confident, where he can sit in class and just listen. We skip all that preparation because we are so superior, or neglectful, or lazy. Because we haven't prepared ourselves to recognize the horse's feelings.
You must learn to realize the slightest change, the smallest try that a horse makes. You know and he knows you know. When you feel him start to position himself to turn around or to back up, or whatever, recognize this so you can reward his effort and build on it. Don't make the horse do all the work. He shouldn't have to figure you out and learn to get out of your way to get things done."

Our training program focuses on this fundamental Ray Hunt presents and I can tell you from experience it works.
I constantly preach that no horse is the same - because they aren't. When your horses come to me for training, they get a couple days to settle into their new surroundings, during these days I watch them, see how they react to new sounds, smells, horses, noises, equipment etc. Before we make it into the round pen I have a general idea of what I'm working with and I adjust my program to work with them.
I take pride in my ability and discipline in myself - every horse has the same expectation, the same rules and the same boundaries. How I approach these fundamentals is dependent on the horse.

My training programs are focused on filling in the gaps - making sure every horse passes every grade so that when they leave my programs they are set up to succeed.

I use them as tools to watch myself, to see where I can improve my timing, release pressure, and my body placement.

A dog, a horse, and a trail is sometimes all you need to reset. When everything gets loud, when chaos is a constant scream, when sleep is no longer existent and the to do list just keeps getting longer. Take the break, grab your horse, grab your dog and find a trail. Your soul will take a deep breath, you stress will quiet, and the mountains will shrink into mole hills. Your heart will thank you.
