🦷 Does your pet’s smile look healthy? Dental disease can still be hiding below the gumline. 🐶🐱

Plaque is a soft film that builds up on teeth. If it isn’t removed, it can harden into tartar both above and below the gumline. Over time, this may contribute to periodontal disease and oral discomfort: even when the teeth look normal from the outside.

Pets are experts at hiding pain, so changes can be subtle. Untreated dental disease can affect their comfort, eating habits, and overall wellbeing. ❤️

A professional dental procedure is about much more than making teeth look clean. A complete assessment requires dental X-rays to evaluate all parts of the teeth and surrounding structures below the gumline. This is followed by cleaning under anaesthetic with careful monitoring. This is the only way to properly evaluate and treat areas that can’t be seen or safely cleaned while a pet is awake. Your veterinarian will discuss any findings and recommended care with you.

Meet Makepeace, also known as Little Man! 🐾💛

This sweet kitten’s favourite place to be is purring away on his owner’s shoulder. He also loves climbing up onto their shoulders, and making them laugh while he does it! 😸

As for his favourite treat? Little Man is still experimenting and hasn’t chosen one yet. Every taste test counts! 🍗

Fun fact: Makepeace used to be a barn cat. We’re so happy to celebrate this charming little shoulder-climber as our Pet of the Week! 🥰

What a beautiful, sunny day we had at the Zoe’s Animal Rescue BBQ fundraiser! ☀️🐾❤️

We’re so grateful to everyone who came out to enjoy the BBQ, meet the adoptable animals, browse the wonderful vendor tables, and support animals in need. Your kindness and community spirit helped make the day so joyful and special! 🐶🐱

A heartfelt thank-you to all the vendors who showed up and contributed to the event, and to the incredible volunteers from Zoe’s Animal Rescue for the time, care, and hard work they put into making it happen. We appreciate you more than we can say! 🙌

Look at Scout’s sparkling smile! 🦷✨

Scout, one of our RVTs’ dogs, recently came in for a professional dental cleaning. Thankfully, his teeth were dirty and needed a thorough cleaning, but no extractions were necessary. 🐶💙

Regular dental assessments and cleanings are an important part of your pet’s overall wellness. Dental disease can develop below the gumline, where it may not be visible during a quick look at home, so routine oral health checks matter. Every pet’s dental needs are unique, and some may require additional treatment, including extractions.

At your pet’s next visit, ask our team to check their teeth and gums and chat with you about a dental care plan that fits their needs. 🐾

✨ Meet Finley, our Pet of the Week! ✨

This little guy goes by Finnie: and sometimes Bartok, as in the bat from the movie Anastasia.🦇 With a love of long walks, shopping trips, dinner, and cozy naps, Finley has perfected the art of enjoying the good life. 🐾🛍️😴

His favorite treats are duck tenders and his real talent is getting the zoomies while watching dog shows. We’re sure his enthusiastic commentary makes the viewing experience even better! 📺💨

And for a fun fact: Finley was once the size of a matchbox when he was born. It’s hard to believe this tiny beginning led to such a big personality! ❤️
