PRAIRIE URBAN FARM BOX SHARES AVAILABLE FOR 2023

Hello everyone!

Prairie Urban Farm is offering a very limited number of subscription boxes for the 2023 growing season. For the inflation-busting price of $350 -- the same price since the beginning of the program -- you will receive 10 weeks of seasonal produce starting approximately the first week of July. **NEW THIS YEAR** are free optional bonus shares of spring greens and other early vegetables, which we expect to make available on specified dates beginning in early June.

The basic 10-week box share will include approximately 20-25 servings of freshly picked, seasonal produce. Although we cannot guarantee any single crop, past boxes have included a regular rotation of onions (bulb and green), tomatoes, carrots, beets, wax and green beans, peas, cucumber, winter and summer squash, potatoes, leeks, cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, spinach, kale, chard, arugula, radish, turnip and others, many in multiple and heirloom varieties. The smaller optional spring shares are expected to include a variety of spring greens (great for freezing!), snap peas, baby carrots, and/or radish. In addition, PUF grows a wide array of herbs and spices including garlic, parsley, chives, basil, sage, dill, cilantro, mint and more. These will be added to the boxes on occasion, and some may be requested or self-served onsite during box pickup. You can even pick yourself a gorgeous sunflower bouquet!

As some of you are already aware, our crops are nurtured entirely by volunteers and while we are not certified organic, we practice many organic and regenerative farming methods such as composting, companion planting, crop diversity, supporting wild pollinators and eschewing all synthetic chemicals in favour all-organic amendments. In other words, the produce that we put in our market boxes comes with a whole lotta love!

We are a non-profit community farm! Proceeds from your box share help us buy the seeds, tools, irrigation supplies, and other expenses we incur in our operations and enables us to support a wide variety of social agencies and charities with produce donations.

If you are interested in reserving a box, please email Debra Davidson, Executive Director, by email at [email protected].

If you are not interested in a share yourself, but know someone who might be, please share this invitation!

COST: $350, due by May 15 if you want to be on the list for optional spring boxes. Otherwise, due by June 15.

PICKUP TIME: Saturdays, from 3-5 pm, with alternate pickup by arrangement on Tuesdays from 7-8 pm
