My name is Railene Hooper, I am an Edmonton and area based photographer currently studying photography at NAIT where I enjoy learning and love the program. Being a 22 year old adventuress, my camera is pretty much with me wherever I go. I am a passionate photographer who loves creating a relationship with my clients by getting to know them and making their session as fun and enjoyable as possible.

I love adapting to client’s requests because it pushes me to be better and learn. One of my favourite things about being a photographer is finding beauty in the city we call home. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, Edmonton has no shortage of incredible locations for photos.

And T & J make this one extra special. They were some of the very first people to trust me to capture their wedding day, and I’ll always be grateful for that. ✨

Unpopular opinion:
your wedding photos should still look beautiful in 20 years.

Not just trendy right now.

I know the brown/yellow filters are in.
I know the super blurry photos are everywhere.
I know social media loves what feels “cool” for five seconds.

But when your kids are looking through your wedding album someday, I promise they are not going to care what preset was trending.

They are going to care about seeing you.
Your faces clearly.
Your emotions honestly.
Your people and colours exactly as they were.

And listen, I’m not against creativity at all. I LOVE movement. I love art. I love intentional blur when it adds feeling to a moment. But there’s a difference between artistic storytelling… and editing or shooting in a way that won’t age well.

You deserve photographs that hold the test of time.
Photographs that still feel beautiful decades from now.
Photographs that don’t make you say, “wow that editing trend really got us.”

My goal has never been to create photos that look like everyone else’s feed.

It’s to create photographs that feel timeless, emotional, and real, long after the trends disappear. 🤍

One of my favourite parts about being a photographer is that it has taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the world… with some of the most beautiful people.

This trip reminded me how lucky I am to do what I do. To chase light through the mountains, photograph genuine connection, and document people exactly as they are in places that make you feel completely in awe of the world around you.

Photography has never just been about photos for me. It’s about the people beside me. The stories. The adventure. The feeling.

The greatest gift this career has given me isn’t awards or recognition. It’s the ability to experience the world through people and moments that mean something.

And honestly… photographing beautiful people in beautiful places will never stop inspiring me. 🤍

One of the best things you can do for beautiful wedding photos?
Trust your photographer. 🤍

You don’t need a mountain view or a destination wedding to create magic. Some of the most beautiful images happen in the most unexpected places when you have someone who knows how to see light, movement, connection, and moments differently.

Edmonton honestly has so many hidden gems if you know where to look. A quiet patch of trees, dreamy evening light, interesting architecture, a random alley with perfect texture… it’s never just about the location. It’s about knowing how to use it.

The best photos happen when couples stop worrying about where they are and start focusing on each other.

That’s when the magic happens ✨

Some stories stay with you forever… and this is one of them. ✨

After their engagement session, Joseph and Anissa knew they wanted me to photograph their wedding. And when they found out my due date was on their wedding day… they still chose me.

That kind of trust? It means everything.

From their engagement session to their wedding day, this never felt like just another booking. It felt intentional. It felt personal. It felt like they were choosing me not just for photos, but for how I see and capture moments.

And when the day came… life unfolded in the most unexpected way.

I found myself walking into their wedding straight from the hospital, camera in hand, heart completely full. Not because I had to… but because I wanted to be there for them. Because moments like this matter.

And the truth is, this day wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible people beside me. Thank you Andrei and Robert for showing up, for taking care of them, and for capturing their story so beautifully when I couldn’t be there for it all.

This is what it means to me to be a wedding photographer.
It’s not just about photos.
It’s about people. Trust. Showing up.

🇨🇦 The Olympics of Photography, and I get to wear the Team Canada jersey again!!

I’m incredibly proud to share that I’ve been selected for Team Canada at the 2026 World Photographic Cup , my third year representing Canada alongside some of the most talented photographers in the country including:

The WPC brings together photographers from around the world to compete on the global stage, and being part of this team is always such an honour.

Even more exciting… the rotating World Photographic Cup exhibit is starting right here in Edmonton! You can see the 2026 collection on display until April 10 at McBain in Mayfield . It’s an incredible opportunity to see work from photographers representing our country on the world stage!!
