1 - For the number of times I flipped us in the canoe on the North Saskatchewan
2 - For the number of boats you’ve owned since we met
3 - For you, me, and Steven 🐕‍🦺 in a canoe - except that our water dog hates water. How did you get stuck with us?
4 - For the number of canoe classes we attended in June, for my benefit, because you are already an excellent paddler.

Thanks for being a good sport and an even better paddle-partner in crime 🛶

Introducing a queen bee to a queenless colony.

The queen arrived in a plastic queen cage, accompanied by some attendants (worker bees). One end of the cage is filled with fondant. When introduced to a hive, the workers consume the constant over a few days and release their new queen. If all goes well, she’ll be laying 1,500-2,000 eggs per day by mid-week.

Every spring, hundreds of fruit tree growers from across Alberta (and beyond; I met a guy who drove down from Fairbanks, Alaska) meet to trade and buy sticks from their favourite fruit trees. These sticks, called scions, are grafted onto backyard, orchard, and nursery trees.

The number of local apple, plum, pear, and apricot varieties is staggering!
