Our Oncology team is growing! 🎉

We’re excited to welcome Dr. Gabrielle (Gabby) Paul-McKenzie, Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologist, to our team.

Dr. Paul-McKenzie joins our established Oncology service as our second oncologist, alongside an expanded team of veterinary technologists and support staff.

This growth allows us to increase our capacity to support more pets and families navigating a cancer diagnosis, while continuing to provide the compassionate, specialized care our Oncology team is known for.

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Paul-McKenzie to the team! 💚

October is RVT Month! 💚🐾

Behind every patient at Boreal is an incredible team, and our Registered Veterinary Technologists are an essential part of the care we provide every day.

From emergency and critical care to specialty medicine, patient monitoring and everything in between, our RVTs bring an incredible amount of skill, knowledge, compassion and dedication to their work.

This month, we're celebrating the RVTs who advocate for their patients, support our veterinary teams, comfort families and help keep Boreal moving around the clock.

To all of our amazing RVTs: thank you for everything you do. We couldn't do it without you! 💚

Today, Boreal Veterinary Centre recognizes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. 🧡

We honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities.

We encourage our team and community to take time today to listen, learn, reflect, and recognize the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

Every Child Matters.

Heading into the last long weekend of summer! 🍂

Please be prepared for increased volumes and potentially extensive wait times at Boreal Veterinary Centre. This is one of our busiest times of the year.

We operate on a triage basis, with our sickest patients seen first. Our team is working as efficiently as possible to care for every patient who comes through our doors, but wait times can be unpredictable.

📞 Please call ahead before coming to the hospital for the most up-to-date information.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and kindness toward our team. ❤️

Wishing everyone a safe and happy long weekend!

We’re growing! Exciting changes are underway behind the scenes, and we can’t wait to share what’s coming next.

In the meantime, we appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through some temporary construction, noise, and disruptions. We apologize for any inconvenience along the way and promise there are some exciting things on the other side. 🛠️✨

Stay tuned… this is just the beginning. 👀

🌈 Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day 🐾

Today, we remember all the beloved pets who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge, the companions who filled our homes with joy, left paw prints on our hearts, and became part of our families.

Working in emergency and specialty veterinary medicine means we are often entrusted with caring for pets and their families during some of their most difficult moments. At Boreal, we pride ourselves on providing a compassionate and supportive environment, helping families feel cared for as they navigate difficult decisions, saying goodbye, and the grief that follows.

To every family missing a beloved companion today: the love you shared mattered, and so does your grief.

Our oncology team is incredibly thankful, humbled, and honored to be recognized with the Trupanion Veterinary Team of the Year Award. ❤️

This team brings so much compassion, dedication, and heart to every patient and family they care for. They don’t just provide cancer care — they build deep, lasting relationships with their patients, supporting them through chemotherapy, celebrating the good days, and holding their paws through the hardest moments at end of life.

They proudly serve pets and families across northern Alberta and beyond, making a difference every single day through their kindness and expertise.

Thank you to the Trupanion veterinary team for creating this award and celebrating the incredible people behind veterinary care.
See our link in bio for more details about this award!
We also have even more exciting things ahead as our oncology team continues to grow this fall. Stay tuned for more soon. 🐾❤️👤

🐾 Happy Vet Appreciation Day! 🐾

Today we celebrate the incredible veterinarians who dedicate their lives to caring for animals and supporting the people who love them.

Great veterinary care is built on so much more than medical knowledge — it takes leadership, compassion, integrity, and the ability to make thoughtful decisions in challenging moments. The best doctors inspire their teams, advocate for their patients, communicate with kindness, and bring empathy to every interaction.

We are so thankful for the veterinarians who show up every day with dedication, curiosity, and heart. Thank you for your expertise, your guidance, and the countless ways you make a difference for pets, families, and the teams who work alongside you. 💚🐶🐱🌲

We appreciate you today and every day!
