Introducing NOMV's Stay Well Series, tips and tools on how to support mental health for the veterinary community

Tip 1 - Take Breaks Seriously

In veterinary med, it’s easy to keep going without stopping. But even short breaks matter. A few minutes to breathe or eat a real lunch can help reset your nervous system.
Breaks aren’t wasted time. They help you think clearer and care better. Whether you lead a team or work alone, make space for them.
You don’t need to power through. Taking breaks helps.
