🍊🧡 5-ALIVE IS GOING TO WAO TEAM CANADA 2027! 🇨🇦

This little Whippety guy is heading to his FIRST World Championship representing Team Canada, and I couldn’t be more excited!

I’m especially thrilled to have been selected for the Pentathlon, Biathlon AND Games. What a perfect venue for his first big team experience!

Thank you, Morgan Jarvis, for helping me get my dream sports mix. This little guy is an absolute dreamboat, and he’s perfection to me both on and off the agility field. Getting to share his first team experience with his littermate sister Tension and his special daddy Qwik makes it even more special. 🧡

I know my social feed has been pretty Bee-heavy over the last few years, and she’s deserved every second of it. ❤️ But I’m excited for everyone to get to know my little guy better, because we have LOTS of prep ahead and I can’t wait to share the journey!

The World Agility Open and the incredible group representing Canada have always been favourites of mine. This year’s team is no exception. In fact, it’s shaping up to be one hell of a trip!

214 DAYS TO GO! 🇨🇦🍊 Let the countdown begin!

🇨🇦 We are thrilled to announce the 2027 World Agility Open Team Canada! 🇨🇦

You see just Bee & I standing at the start line, but getting us to Finland took a village. ❤️

Team Management 💪🏻 🇨🇦
Theresa Rector - thank you for walking me to and from every run, celebrating the highs and helping through the lows. It was such a pleasure having you there. And Sandy Hovey, who I only met this year, you were an absolute delight. So helpful, and I loved our conversations!

Our Healthcare Team ❤️‍🩹
For Bee - Taylor Sobchuk for looking after her with Team Canada, Chelsea Loube for keeping her feeling great at home, and Dr. Paula and the Troy Vet Team for the endless support you’ve given both of us.

For me - Dr. David Murray for helping get my hip to Finland and through the week. Janita & Jaakko for hooking me up with a very special guy in a very special place. 😉 And Go See Blue for the special compression shorts that came with me to Finland!

Mel, my travel partner, problem solver and fellow participant in some very memorable and questionable moments. 😂 I’m so grateful you were there. You were SUCH a great help & support. May we never have to take another passport photo together again!

To the special people who sent personal messages, texts, videos, voice notes at exactly the right moments, you know who you are. ❤️

To my family and Ken for holding down the fort at home. And a special shoutout to Bhumi, the ultimate dog walker. She’s 3. 😂

Nicole Brown, thank you for lending me your fully prepared airline crate! ✈️

And to my social media community, HOLY 🥹 . The support from home this year was incredible. Every message meant so much. Truly.

To my competitor friends from around the world, some of you I see all the time and some I go years without seeing, but when we’re together it’s instant understanding, ridiculous laughter and like no time has passed. I think I’ll miss that part of these trips the most.

Thank you to Need Some Sun, The Agility Circle Tugs & Toys and Creekside Animal Clinic for supporting us and helping make these opportunities possible.

And finally, the one who makes all of this possible in the first place.

Bee 💛

The one and only.

We’ve been home for a few days, but the jet lag is kicking my ass and I somehow managed to add a little food poisoning to the mix. 😂 So I’m slowly finding my way back to real life.

Obviously, this run isn’t exactly one for the highlight reel. Although that weave entry was pretty damn good. 💁🏼‍♀️

But this run represents a whole lot more than what happened in the ring.

I was completely overwhelmed by the comments on my last post. It’s pretty amazing to see that people of all experience levels in this sport, and even people who don’t do agility at all, can recognize and resonate with the unique relationship we get to have with our dogs through this crazy sport.

That part is pretty damn special.

Our international chapter is officially closed, and I’m pretty sad about that. But when I look back at all the experiences Bee and I have had together, I can’t help but smile. Man, have we had some incredible adventures.

I have a few more posts coming to thank all of the people and support that make these experiences possible.

For now, we’re going with: don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened. ❤️

More trip memories to come. 🇨🇦🐝

🚨 vulnerable post alert!

To future Kayl: What an incredible experience and what a dog! 💛 How did we get so lucky! 🐝

This one hurt.

I successfully battled the nerves before going in, and by the time I entered the ring my mind was calm and clear. I felt completely connected to Bee in every moment except… well, you’ll see. 🤦🏼‍♀️

The universe is REALLY making me work for it. 😂

Because once again, my dog has been an absolute dreamboat. She’s powerful, she’s turning, she’s listening, and she’s trying her absolute best for me. It’s just been one little thing each day.

I really hope we can put it all together tomorrow for our last run.

No matter what happens, I’m so proud of how we’re showing up for Canada. And we’re having a hell of a time doing it. 🇨🇦❤️

One more. Let’s go. 🐝

Day 2 done. And man… it feels like we’re 99% on, and then it’s just ONE little thing. 🤦🏼‍♀️

It’s so easy to sit there and focus on the E. I wish I had been able to work her turn more. I’m disappointed. Of course I am.

But then you sit in these stands and watch person after person just go for it. The very best handlers in the world. The handlers who win. And you know what? They get E’s too. They have moments that don’t go the way they wanted.

And they are INCREDIBLE.

People say the AWC competition is like no other for a reason. The energy in this arena is honestly indescribable, and today it turned up another notch. 🔥

So yeah, I’m disappointed. But man, I’m having a BLAST.

Individual tomorrow. We’re aiming for 100%, baby! 🇨🇦❤️

Well… Day 1 at Worlds is done, and it feels REALLY good to have that one behind us. 😮

I had some genuine concern about whether I’d even be able to run this week with my hip flexor still not fully healed. Thankfully, the warm-up and management worked, and I felt like I could actually run like myself. I’m SO happy to not have that hanging over me for the moment.

Bee took quite a while to recover from the flight, but the second we got to the agility arena, I could tell she knew exactly why we were there. She was SUCH a good listening girl and honestly felt like a seasoned pro out there.

We had an unfortunate E near the end of the course. I didn’t realize quite how fast I was going and got a little off my position. 🤦🏼‍♀️ But even with that, I came away feeling SO much better going into today.

Team Canada also started with an excellent showing in Medium Team Agility, so hopefully that sets the pace for today!

One day down. Let’s go! 🇨🇦❤️
