If you’ve visited Kinsol lately you may have been lucky enough to meet our newest staff member Dr. Netanya Karmel!
We are thrilled to welcome her to the team and we know with confidence that our patients and their owners will love her as well! We asked Dr. Karmel a few questions and wanted to share the answers with you!
Which vet school did you graduate from and what year? Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon in June 2026
What originally made you want to become a veterinarian? It’s been my dream since the day I found out what a veterinarian was! I love that veterinary medicine allows me to combine an interest in medicine with a love for animal care and advocacy as well as a passion for education and communication.
What were your favourite rotations or externships in 4th year? SO many but a few highlights were Oncology, Emergency & Critical Care, and an externship at Resting Paws (providing in-home hospice services)
Do you have a special interest starting to develop ? I love every aspect of the job, but especially wellness and preventative medicine, community outreach, emergency medicine and senior care.
Why did you choose general practice / why did you choose Kinsol? I love that in general practice you get to do a little bit of everything, and no two days are the same. I enjoy the relationships you’re able to build over time with patients and their human(s). I chose Kinsol because it’s family owned, prioritizes fear free practice, and is filled with amazing colleagues, patients, and clients!
Where did you grow up? Cowichan Valley
Do you have pets of your own? Frankie, a 2 year old mixed breed dog from Northern Saskatchewan.
What do you love to do when you’re not at the clinic? Hiking, running, horse back riding, pottery, traveling
