One of the things I love most about owning a small business is getting to support other small businesses!

I’m so excited to share this one with you guys!
This amazing treat business was founded by two female veterans and their loyal service dogs. They make premium treats with premium ingredients and no fillers, with options for both dogs AND cats! 🐾
But what really makes them stand out is their mission. 10% of every sale goes toward supporting Wounded Warriors Canada to help fund the training of Service Dogs for veterans and first responders living with PTSD.
As a small-business owner myself, I know how much it means when people choose to support, share, recommend, and shop small. So when I come across a business doing something this awesome, I’m always happy to shout them out!

✨ THE GOLDEN EARS GROOMING EXCLUSIVE EXPERIENCE ✨
I’ve been thinking about what I want my role in grooming to look like moving forward, and I keep coming back to one thing:
Quality over quantity. Always.
I’m considering opening a very limited number of grooming spots for a select group of Golden Ears clients who want the experience, care and attention that I’ve always believed grooming should be about.
This would be a small, exclusive client list not an open booking calendar.
For my select clients, appointments would be available during regular salon hours with the same Fear Free philosophy, personalized care and attention to detail that Golden Ears Grooming is known for.
And for those looking for something even more private, I’ll also be offering a very limited number of before- and after-hours appointments. No weekend appointments available.

Before- and after-hours appointments would be priced higher to reflect the additional private appointment time, while regular hours appointments would remain the more accessible option.
The goal isn’t to groom as many dogs as possible.
It’s to work with the right dogs, the right families, and a small number of clients while creating an elevated grooming experience that feels intentional from start to finish.

A little IVF update
Yesterday, we officially completed our egg retrieval. Such a huge and emotional milestone in this journey! We’re both doing well and feeling very grateful.
I’ll still be taking some time away from the salon while I recover and we prepare for the next very exciting steps ahead. There’s still more of this journey to come, and for now, I’m giving myself the time and space to focus on it.

If you met Stu today, you’d never believe the stories.
You’d see a tiny, deaf, toothless old man whose biggest concerns are finding the warmest patch of sun, convincing someone to share a snack, collecting as many couch cuddles as possible, and doing an enthusiastic victory lap after every p**p.
What you wouldn’t see is the young dog who barked at absolutely everything, escaped every chance he got, raided the garbage like it was his full-time job, and somehow developed a taste for cat litter. He kept me humble.
I’ve had him for 16 years. I’m 27 now, so he’s been part of my life for longer than he hasn’t. He’s older than every one of my nieces and nephews, and he’s been the one constant through every chapter of my life. When everything else changed, Stu was always there.
The beach was always our place. Watching him fly across the sand, stopping every few seconds to make sure I was still behind him, splashing through every tidal pool, and inevitably ending up with sand in his eyes are memories I’ll carry forever. It’s still one of my favourite places because of him.
Growing old is a funny thing. His world has gotten quieter, his naps have gotten longer, and his pace has slowed down. But somehow his heart just keeps getting bigger. The older he’s gotten, the softer, sweeter, and more affectionate he’s become.
Sixteen years feels impossible. It also doesn’t feel like nearly enough.
Thank you for growing up with me, for sticking by me through every high and every low, for teaching me what unconditional love looks like, and for being my first baby.
Happy 16th birthday to the little dog who somehow became one of the biggest parts of my life. ❤️

To our wonderful clients,
For years, I’ve been lucky enough to watch so many of your families grow. I’ve celebrated new puppies, watched them become beloved seniors, and shared in so many of life’s milestones with all of you. Now it’s our turn to take that leap, and we couldn’t be more excited to share that we’re beginning our IVF journey. A few months ago Ethan was diagnosed with CBAVD, which means IVF is the only path that gives us the opportunity to have a biological family.
This is something we’ve dreamed about for a long time, and we’re incredibly grateful to be taking this next step.
As exciting as it is, IVF is also a very involved process. It includes daily medications, frequent monitoring appointments, bloodwork, ultrasounds, and procedures that are all scheduled based on how my body responds. Because of that, my schedule will be much more unpredictable than usual, and I’ll be stepping back from grooming for the majority of the process to focus on my health, recovery, and giving us the best possible chance of success.
If you already have appointments booked with me, I’ll personally reach out if we need to make any changes. If you don’t hear from me, your appointment is staying exactly as scheduled.
This business has given me so much more than a career, it has brought incredible people into my life. Many of you have become more than clients, and your kindness and support over the years have meant the world to me.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we begin this next chapter. We truly appreciate every bit of support and encouragement and will keep everyone updated when we can.
Here’s hoping the next little one you meet from our family has two feet instead of four.

Almost two years ago, we said goodbye to Mary, and somehow her little legacy still lives on every day here. Clients who never even had the chance to meet her still ask about her, speak her name, and remember her. It’s such a special feeling knowing she left that kind of impact.
I think about her often, but especially this time of year as the blueberries start to grow again. 🫐

Being trusted with your pets is something I never take lightly. They’re family, and it’s truly an honour to care for them, love them, and be part of their lives, whether for a quick visit or for many years.

Mary reminded me just how deep that bond can be, and I’ll always be grateful for every pet and person who walks through our doors. 🤍

Hi everyone
I wanted to let you know that I’ll be taking some time away from grooming for an upcoming surgery and recovery period. While I’m off healing, there will still be grooming available in the salon with Lisa Pampered Paws Grooming Spa
She is Fear Free certified just like I am, works one-on-one, and provides the same calm, individualized care your pets are used to in the same familiar environment. Keeping grooming low-stress and comfortable for your dogs has always been my top priority, and I feel confident leaving them in her care while I focus on my health.
My return will happen slowly and gradually as I recover, so I truly appreciate everyone’s patience, kindness, and support during this time. Thank you for continuing to support my small business and trusting us with your pups. 🤍🐾
