Schooling and tuning the seasoned horse:

-Fixing overbend in Jethro to improve our times and get faster. 💥

-This video is dated from mid August/26. Earlier this year I noticed Jethro started to get this overbending thing happening in his runs. He was still clocking, but not as fast as he could still be and it felt awkward to ride...like it wasn't his style. I knew we could improve this and be faster yet, so I went to work improving it. This is how I was able to clock almost 16 seconds (17.04) on a standard pattern at CBHI.

The 2026 foals ❤️

AGENT 007, aka Bond, is the first foal from French Moon Chic (Royal). He is sired by one of Canada's Premier barrel horse stallions, Sekret Agentman (Rio); who is by Furyofthewind and out of a dtr of Tres Seis. Rio's offspring have already begun to prove themselves and the oldest is only 5. I competed on Royal and she has a long list of accomplishments as a 1D and rodeo horse. We are very excited for him, and I am very happy with how this foal turned out. Eventually, we will offer him, but for now we have chosen to hold him for time being to see how he turns out so we know for future sire referencing for Royal. I will let all know when he is ready to offer. He comes with all major incentives.

HOLLA IM BLAZIN (aqha pending), aka Brooklyn, is out of our good broodmare Miss Blazin Sugarjet (Sugar) and sired by Holla Famer (Holla); who is by Dash Ta Fame and out of a Firewater Flit dam. Sugar is a godsend of a mom, and she is a paternal sister to Blazin Peppy San (Jethro). Jethro has won me so much, and has gained close to 60K now in earnings with limited outings. This year alone, he captured almost 20K in only four outtings...impressive. Holla is a well-known Saskatchewan barrel horse sire. Brooklyn found her new home right away, and she will also stay in my training and coaching program as well. The goal is to have them stay in my hands as a trainer when raising your own bloodlines and program, so this is fulfilling.

I used to have a little breeding program I ran as a kid, and Jethro is the last living offspring I had left from this....it's pretty cool to see this all come full circle. ❤️ This has literally been my life's work for these foals out of proven blood right here.

We will be breeding Sugar back to a Dash Ta Fame son again forsure for this spring.

I am still doing some researching on who we will breed Royal back to for this spring...who do you think we should pick for Royal?? Tell me your creative thoughts!

Are you struggling to get softness and smoothness in your barrel turns? 🤔

One of the things that is characteristic of Jethro is his very efficient and smooth turning style. This is how he clocks. I went through a bit of a struggle bus for a bit of this season to get his smoothness into the turn, so I thought I would document my training for a seasoned horse on how I did that.

What does your horse do under pressure?

Alot of them can't or don't know how to handle it.

What does your horse do? Do they turtle and shut down? (I can't stand this one), do the explode and come unglued? Or do they show up and bring the guns to the fight so to speak?

I train performance horses most of the time, so being able to handle pressure is one of their most valuable assets to confidently know. Handling pressure out on the trail is also equally important, however, because if things get hairy out there you are a long ways from home and often not in cellular range.

When horses are given pressure, in their riding expectations, they should handle it like the latter-inthat they are prepared to bring the guns to the fight. They can't be afraid, they can't turtle and give up, and they can't explode and fall apart. They HAVE to show up for battle and think that they've won it for you. I can't stress this enough.

This is why a proper foundation is so important. A horse that is rushed or given careless regard learns to turtle and shut down it's feet, and one that is unprepared learns to explode. A horse that is given the time and patience, is shown the expectations, and is farely prepared and given the skills, is a horse that learns to be willing and to deliver on the day of battle without a doubt in their mind. This is the kind of horse I need, and with the patience to get them there. As winter approaches (the preparation and training season), I hope this note helps you in deciding your prospects future.

Are you too afraid to enter for fear of looking bad, or messing up?

The master has failed more times than a beginner has ever yet tried. I went years failing and not winning a dime before I started to win alot; before I really understood my program and could put it all together...I went through a phase of trying to make a horse with less horsemanship and less body education, then for years I couldn't win a dime, and I couldn't keep a barrel up to save my life. This was years I listened to this and I tried to make this work (dumb, I know)...I didn't understand my own abilites enough and I had to fail alot to get there. I went back to my very body broke ways and really started deep diving into this. That is when I started winning again, and alot. I am not saying I am an expert or a master (I don't think anyone is unless you're Kassy Mowry 😆), but this long path of failure is what led me to understand my own horsemanship better. It allowed me to lean into my own abilites and USE them. It built my confidence and the ability to know when something doesn't work for me; and it built me horses that I am now working to fill my pro rodeo card with, and whose bodies come away with very little soreness.

We learn from failure, so don't be afraid to get out there and give it a try!

I've got alot of catching up to do on the page here!

Here is a Round 2 video from 2026 SBRA Finals of Blazin Peppy San aka Jethro ☠️🖤.

For some reason, the dirt in here was very slippy which is abnormal for this arena. Anyhow I love how this video shows how he recovered so well from his slips to STILL clock a 13.93 run in this arena!

This run earned us a cheque in the 1D and a spot back to the Short-Go! 🔥
