LABOUR DAY FUNDRAISER!

Thank you so much to everyone who has donated items from our list! There is still time to shop for DDHS "extras" that keep the shelter running smoothly. From laundry detergent, bleach and paper towel, to all the other everyday things, the little costs add up FAST.

So this Labour Day, we’re putting our Amazon Wishlist to work!
We’ve put together a list of supplies we regularly need, so if you’d like to help out, you can shop directly from our wishlist and have items sent straight to us.

Every item helps us keep things clean, organized and running efficiently for the animals in our care.

Featured Volunteer - Yvette 🥰

Yvette is a dedicated volunteer who generously spends her free time walking, loving and caring for the dogs at DDHS. When asked what she likes about volunteering she said:

"Two things I have always loved since I was younger is animals and volunteering. Since becoming a dog volunteer at DDHS i can combine both of these loves and feel like a difference is made one dog at a time. Some of the dogs come in withdrawn and scared, and so it is especially rewarding to see the progress they make to becoming playful and trusting of humans again. The best part of all of this is when they get new loving homes. Everyone at DDHS seem committed to this very purpose and so I also feel like I am helping to reach these goals."

Pet of the week - Penny

Meet Penny! This 11.5 year old lady is looking for a place to settle down and enjoy her golden years.

Penny loves one on one attention from people. Being brushed is her favorite activity, closely followed by napping and snacking.

While she may not have kitten energy, Penny still has lots of love to give. If you are looking for a quieter feline friend, this lady is might be the right fit for you. She would be best suited as the only cat in the home but could reach room mate status with another independent cat.
