If you are curious where our dog guests sleep, eat, and rest - when not out in the yard playing with friends, or in one of the outdoor fenced patios, here’s your answer!

You’ll find them here, just off of my bedroom in the space affectionately known as the “dog room”. This bright and airy room is by far the best room of the house.

The dogs who we offer overnight boarding to are, almost exclusively (with a few exceptions), dogs who have come to us for training and daycare since they were puppies.

They have good social skills which allows them the opportunity to run and play with friends for a large part of the day.

They know me. They know my dogs, kids, horses, goats, etc.. and they know this is a safe and familiar place where they have fun and are cared for. They become an extended part of our family.

Lastly, They are crate trained so that when it’s time to eat, rest, or sleep, they have no trouble settling down in a safe, cozy, and stress free space for some down time

It is this early training, socialization, and routine building - that allows us to offer a much quieter and minimal stress alternative to traditional boarding - in our home to our valued and committed dog parents.

BEWARE the Foxtail friends!

It is the time of year where these dangerous awns are drying up, and are at their most dangerous to our animals.

Soon they will be blowing everywhere in the wind, and may end up in your dog (or cat’s) favourite areas to explore.

These barbed awns can get into ears, mouths, noses, eyes, paws and even embed into the skin if trapped in fur.

Please keep mindful when out an about to steer your dog away from areas with foxtail. Keep your animals groomed, and pay attention to signs of discomfort that may indicate your animal could be suffering from an embedded Foxtail Awn.

Phoebe is a really lovely young dog available for adoption through Cause For Critters.

She is friendly, and energetic, but defaults to laying down and watching when nothing is happening. She approaches the world with curiosity, despite having a start that didn’t expose her to much, and we are working with CFC to mindfully broaden her exposure while - forming ideal habits.

While Phoebe is obviously a mixed breed with some wire hair, with sable or brindle colouring, her temperament reminds me of a typical Lab.
