Earthwise Society Community, our earth, and how we act within it Earthwise is a not-for-profit, charitable organization.

We are a community resource on ecological gardening, a model of best practice for sustainable horticulture, a public space where the community connects with nature. The Earthwise Society operates the Boundary Bay Earthwise Garden and Demonstration Food Gardens. We put people of all ages in touch with the earth, from grade school children learning about soil, biodiversity, wildlife stewardship and

resource conservation; to adults learning about ecological gardening, composting and growing food. The Earthwise Garden demonstrates that it is possible to have a healthy, sustainable, beautiful landscape without the use of chemicals. The Earthwise Demonstration Food Gardens puts the community in touch with food, where it comes from, how it grows, the ecological costs of getting it to our tables, and the importance of sustainable organic growing practices.

We’re excited to welcome Chef John Temple to the Earthwise Tomato Fest on September 5 at 12 PM! If you joined us for our popular winter cooking classes, you’ll know just how much fun Chef John’s demonstrations are. He will be sharing some delicious ways to enjoy fresh heirloom tomatoes:

🍅 Pan Con Tomate
🍅 Salted Tomato Slices with delicious oils
🍅 Sugo con Salvia, a twist on classic tomato sauce using fresh sage

At this week's Garden Buddies session, participants explored the connection between gardening and well-being with a 5–4–3–2–1 Garden Mindfulness Walk. Tuning into their senses to notice what they could see, hear, touch, smell, and appreciate, the group was able to slow down and take in the garden in a whole new way.
