Carleton County Animal Shelter

Carleton County Animal Shelter Adopt * Sponsor * Volunteer * Donate * Educate The Carleton County Animal Shelter was founded in 1995. Currently CCAS has a capacity to house 52 cats and 6 dogs.

Since then we have housed and re-homed hundreds of dogs and cats from all over western New Brunswick. CCAS is a no-kill shelter, meaning that animals will not be euthanized simply because of lack of space. Euthinasia is reserved for a last resort and is performed only when our veterinary care providers deem it necessary to prevent suffering. The demand of the community far exceeds those numbers so

we have to focus on other methods of helping stray animals outside of the shelter as much as possible. By networking with other shelters in the province, suppling pet food where needed and assisting in spay and neuter expenses we are trying to give as many ownerless pets a chance at survival until a permanent home can be found for each and every one. Keeping the shelter open is no easy task. The expense alone is mind-boggling, at $100,000 each and every year. It takes a team of individuals who are willing to work with the animals , raise funds and help try to educate the public on the plight of stray animals in our community. We need all of the help we can get and we welcome anyone who would like to lend a hand.

The Staff and animals here at CCAS would like to take a moment to thank the Shoppers in Woodstock for the food donation they dropped off yesterday (January 31st, 2026)! Thank you so much Shoppers in Woodstock for supporting the Staff and the animals here at CCAS! Without the support from businesses and community members like Shoppers, we wouldn't be able to do what we do here at CCAS!

Animal Spotlight: Meet Edward Cullen!

Edward Cullen will be 4yr old on April 5th of this year. He is a black and white domestic shorthair with urinary issues who's been here at CCAS for half of his life now.

He is the cleanest kitty we have in our facility, and he likes to be handled by humans on his own terms. He isn't afraid to be vocal when he's hungry in the mornings, or when his boundaries are pushed to warn us that he doesn't like something. He loves head pats and when the Staff talk to him while they work.

Edward will need to be on Urinary food from the vet, both wet and dry, for the rest of his life. Otherwise, he's just a misunderstood kitty who is ready for his furever home!

If anyone is interested in adopting Mr. Edward Cullen, please fill out our pre-adoption form for cats at ccasnb.ca !

Last, but certainly not least, the CCAS Staff would like to express a warm thank you to Pet Valu in Woodstock for their food donation a bit earlier this month (January 2026). With the help from Pet Valu's regular food donations, we always have a steady flow of cat and dog food coming in, which we rely on to keep the animals in our care fed, and happy with many of their favorites. Thank you so much Pet Valu in Woodstock for supporting the staff and the animals here at CCAS! We wouldn't be able to do what we do here without you and your support!

The Staff at Carleton County Animal Shelter wanted to send out a special thank you to the Food Bank for their donation of food this month (January 2026). With the help from the Food Bank, not only do we get to help the animals in our care, but we also get to help the community and animals outside of our facility with our community pantry. Thank you for supporting CCAS and supporting our community pantry project to help those furbabies in homes stay in homes. We couldn't do what we do without your help and support!

Everyone here at Carleton County Animal Shelter wanted to say a big thank you to all the Sobeys patrons for their food donations as well as for the Sobeys gift card (200$). Your donations help us immensely with feeding the kitties and making sure we have all the cleaning supplies we need to keep it nice and clean here. Thanks to all of you for caring about CCAS and the animals in our care as much as we do! We wouldn't be able to do all that we do without you and your support!

The Staff here at Carleton County Animal Shelter wanted to take some time to thank all the community members who responded to our call for help getting kitten food, and wet food in general. Our hearts were so full seeing how many made it a point to help in any way that they could. Thank you all so much for caring about CCAS and the animals in our care as much as we do! We couldn't do everything we do here without your help and support!

Animal Spotlight: Meet May McDouble!

May McDouble is an approximately 4yr old black and white female domestic short haired kitty.

She loves lounging around and snuggling whenever someone is cleaning the litter boxes in her room. Though she's in a room with our more reserved cats, she helps them see that people aren't so scary. She helps them to be more confident, and feel more secure.

She needs a home that is willing to be understanding of her quirkiness and has a lot of love to give!

If anyone is interested in adopting Miss May McDouble, please fill out our pre-adoption form for cats at ccasnb.ca ! We would love to find May her furever home!
