I’m not very consistent with posting but figured It’s probably high time I introduce myself.
My name is Clarissa. I’ve been on a horse since before I could walk and from early on I had my mind set on barrel racing. Only problem… we didn’t have barrel horses—or a trailer.
Around 12, we borrowed a trailer and I entered my first gymkhana… and won. That was it, I was fully hooked! I went on to join the Manitoba High School Rodeo Association, Heartland Rodeo Association, and Manitoba Barrel Racing Association. I had a very special grade mare by the name of Caramel who helped me achieve many wins and accomplishments. In those years I rode anything I could get on—colt starting, training, learning (sometimes the hard way 😅), and just putting in the miles.
I got married in 2012 and moved to Crystal City, which meant a pause on competing and stepping back from training for others while we were in town. But let’s be real… horses aren’t something you just quit. I kept growing my own herd and riding my young ones. I trained and started running a really tough, gritty and ornery gelding by the name of Rock. He helped me achieve many goals such as some big jackpot wins, HRA, MRCA/CCA wins and top 5 placings. He taught me ALOT (those tough ones do!) and i’m forever grateful for the rider and trainer he’s made me today.
In 2016 - 2022 we had our two kids (Tyson & Hayley), bought some land and built a house, barn, indoor arena, pens and shelters.
Now, with being well set up I’ve been able to get back into taking on some client horses and teaching lessons. I enjoy competing, but I love training and teaching. It gives me so much joy working with both horse and rider, building that connection, and seeing people reach goals they didn’t think were possible.
So if you’re new here, welcome. Don’t be shy, coffees always on. If I’ve ever worked with you or your horse, I’d truly love if you’d leave a review when you have a minute, it means a lot and helps others find me!
