​Do you ever feel like you’re in a place where you want to do something, but the second it’s for yourself, it feels completely impossible?

​That is me right now with posting content.

​I actually really enjoy creating content... as long as it’s for literally anyone else.

​Posting for a friend’s charity? No problem. 🙋‍♀️
​Helping my husband with his business media? You got it, babe. 📲

​But posting videos of myself?
❌ AVOID. ❌

​Instead, I end up posting content full of text, hoping to get your attention!

​Please tell me I’m not the only one who struggles with this. How do you break through the wall when it comes to creating horsey content.

Who doesn’t love a blue roan?💙

Meet Nico! He is easily one of the most handsome guys around, but I knew the minute I met him that I was going to like him for reasons far beyond his stunning looks.

Nico has the absolute best temperament. Every single time I call his name, he leaves the herd and comes walking straight over to me in the field.

As a young stallion, he still has a lot to learn about the world, but he is proving to be an incredibly fast learner who genuinely seems to enjoy every bit of his training and handling!

I can’t wait to watch this sweet, smart boy continue to grow and blossom.

I saw a sale ad today that absolutely broke my heart—for both the horse and the human.

It used words like "cold-hearted," "bitchy," and "ruining horses for me."

My stomach dropped when I read it, because I recognize that place. It’s a familiar, heavy feeling. It’s the exact moment a human reaches their absolute breaking point—when you feel like you’ve tried everything, you don’t know what else to do, and the only choice left is to remove yourself from the situation completely.

But it made me stop and wonder... what if the horse wrote the ad?
What if their version read:
* "I don’t understand what you’re asking."
* "I am scared, or I am in pain."
* "I don’t want to do that because it hurts."
* "I don’t know how."
* "Please, help me."

What do we do with horses like this? Where do they go? Too often, they are turned loose into the world on a prayer, hoping they happen to land with someone who has the time, the patience, and the tools to piece them back together.

One of my biggest goals as a horsewoman is to help shift this exact mindset.
When we stop labeling horses as "bitchy" or "difficult" and instead approach them with genuine curiosity, everything changes.

Curiosity asks: Is it pain? Is it confusion? Is it fear?

When we ask *why* instead of demanding *what*, we can begin to heal them faster than we ever have before. ❤️

🚨 BUCKET LIST EVENT UNLOCKED! 🚨

​I am incredibly thrilled to share that this coming September, I will be attending a live equine dissection clinic hosted by none other than the amazing Becks Nairn of Whole House Anatomy, all the way from New Zealand! 🇳🇿✈️🇨🇦

​As someone dedicated to horse biomechanics, movement, and functional hoof care, this is the ultimate educational opportunity.
There is only so much you can learn from textbooks—seeing the intricate relationships between the hoof capsule, the deep digital flexor tendon, the thoracic sling, and the body’s fascial lines in 3D is going to be an absolute game-changer.

​I’m counting down the days to dive deep into internal equine anatomy and bring back an entirely new level of insight to my daily work with these athletes.

​Stay tuned over the next few months as I share some of the specific mechanical structures and movement questions I’m most hoping to gain insight on during this clinic! 🐴🔬✨

Did you know ?

These pictures of equine nostrils provide accurate information on a horse's breathing and wind capacity in the moment. The left image reflects relaxed normal breathing. The center image is of dilated or flared nostrils that are opened more than usual in order to provide increased airflow to the lungs required by greater exertion.

The right image shows a horse fully dilated and showing pink inside the nostril. The pink reflects the intense blood flow to the respiratory system during very demanding work. It is not a good idea to keep a horse in such intense work for long periods when the nostrils are flared and pink as shown.

I have an interesting cultural observation regarding sharing nostril information with other riders about their horse. Years ago, when out riding in a group such as fox hunting it was considered a courtesy to tell a fellow rider if you saw their horse's nostrils fully dilated and pink. The usual response was, "Thank you". The last time I went hunting I shared that information with a rider who became offended and essentially told me to mind my own business. Times and people have changed.

I suggest that today if you feel your horse is breathing heavily, that you ask someone to look at your horse's nostrils and tell you what they see.

The way to avoid highly flared nostrils and flared nostrils showing pink is to build fitness in your horses. There is an old saying, "Trotting builds muscle and cantering builds wind". Canter more.

The Long Game 🪵🏡

​Lately, I’ve been feeling a massive ache that I know a lot of horse people can relate to: the struggle of not having a horse of my own right now.

​If I'm being completely honest with myself, I know I’m not in a place to own one again today. But logic doesn’t always stop your heart from missing it. I miss building that deep, day-in and day-out relationship. Sometimes, it feels like I’m just missing out—wasting valuable time that I could be using to build something beautiful.

​But then I have to look at the bigger picture and remind myself to stay the course, even when that course looks entirely un-horse-related.
​Right now, my "barn time" looks a lot more like home renovations, drywall, and endless dust. It’s a completely different kind of grinding, but it has a purpose. I am playing the long game. I know, without a doubt, that this house is my ticket to my future farm. Every project, every upgrade, and every bit of sweat equity we pour into this place is building the foundation for where I need to be.

​It’s hard to choose patience when your heart wants to be in the dirt, but some dreams require a foundation before they can have a roof. So, for now, I’m trading the saddle for the tool belt, trusting the process, and investing in the future where the horses are waiting.

​To anyone else grinding through a season that feels miles away from your ultimate dream—hang in there. We are building the runway. 🛠️✨
