💔 Yesterday, a massive effort took place to save lives.

A total of 28 dogs and 33 cats were pulled from a cull situation, thanks to rescues, volunteers, transporters, and supporters who stepped up when these animals needed them most.

Today, we’re honoured to welcome 5 of those precious souls into KCS Animal Rescue’s care. ❤️

While their stories are still unfolding, one thing is certain: they are safe. No longer facing an uncertain future, they now have a chance to decompress, receive veterinary care, learn what it means to be loved, and eventually find families of their own.

These situations are never easy, and no single rescue can do it alone. We are incredibly grateful to every rescue that stepped up to help save lives this week. Because of that collective effort, dozens of animals were given a second chance.

As our newest arrivals settle in, we’ll be sharing updates and introducing each of them over the coming days. For now, we’re letting them rest, adjust, and realize that they’re finally safe. 🐾

💛 Meet Julie 💛

At just 8 months old, Julie has truly blossomed and continues to show everyone what a wonderful dog she is.

This sweet mixed-breed girl is expected to be a medium-sized dog when fully grown. While we don’t know exactly what breeds make up Julie, we do know she has an amazing temperament.

She is a calm, gentle girl with excellent manners and an easygoing nature that makes her a joy to have around. Julie loves to relax with her people but is always happy to join in on family activities when it’s time for fun.

Julie absolutely adores other dogs and would love a canine companion to spend her days with. She has also done wonderfully with children, from newborns and up, making her a fantastic family dog.

Julie is house trained and will go to the door when she needs outside. She is also comfortable in a crate and settles nicely, making her an easy addition to most households.

Like many dogs, Julie can be a little unsure around some men initially. We haven’t quite pinpointed what triggers that hesitation, but we’ve found that with a little reassurance and redirection, she settles quickly and does very well. She continues to gain confidence and has made incredible progress during her time with us.

Julie is looking for a loving family that will continue helping her build confidence while appreciating the sweet, gentle, and affectionate dog she already is. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a heart of gold, Julie may be the perfect match.

If you’ve been following our posts lately, you’ve probably noticed we’ve been asking for help more than usual.

The truth is, we are struggling.

KCS Animal Rescue is facing one of the most difficult financial periods we’ve experienced. Between veterinary bills, utilities, shelter operating costs, and a slowdown in adoptions, the financial strain has become overwhelming.

We haven’t wanted to make a post like this, but we believe in being transparent with our supporters. Our immediate goal is to cover outstanding rent and veterinary expenses so we can continue caring for the animals who depend on us every day.

Weather dependent - we will start at noon!

🌱🐾 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED THIS SUNDAY! 🐾🌱

Mother Nature has been keeping us busy! With all the rain we’ve had lately, the grass at the shelter has grown completely out of control and we’re hoping to get a crew together this Sunday to help get it back under control.

We currently only have one lawn mower, so if you have a mower you could bring along, it would be a huge help! We’re also looking for anyone who can bring a w**d whacker to help tackle the areas the mower can’t reach.

Many hands make light work, and even an hour or two of your time would make a huge difference for the animals in our care. ❤️

🐾 Meet Chanel 🐾

Approx. 4 years old | Adoption Fee: $500

Chanel is a sweet, loving girl who wants nothing more than to be curled up beside you on the couch. Unfortunately, despite her affectionate nature, she is quite fearful of new people and can take some time to warm up. Because of this, she will need a home with a family who has the patience, understanding, and commitment to help her work through her fears.

Chanel has the confidence to approach new people on her own terms, but she doesn’t appreciate people approaching her. As much as she craves love and attention, she needs time to decide that you’re safe before she’s comfortable accepting affection.

This sweet girl is a slow burn, but once she lets you in, she doesn’t let go. She’ll be nudging you for pets, following you from room to room, snuggling beside you all night, and soaking up every couch cuddle she can get. Around the house, Chanel is easygoing and relaxed, but she also loves getting out for long walks. Once she comes out of her shell, her playful personality shines through. She loves toys, tug-of-war, playing with other dogs, and most of all, fetch. She truly is the perfect balance of playful and cuddly.

Chanel has not been tested with children and would require a home with respectful, dog-savvy kids who understand the importance of giving her space.

Please keep in mind that Chanel will likely need 1–2 weeks to settle into her new home. She has been making incredible progress and is becoming comfortable with new people much faster than when she first arrived, but moving to a new environment may mean starting that process over again. The family willing to give her the time she needs will be rewarded with an incredibly loyal, loving companion.

We are running low on a few essential items and would greatly appreciate any donations to help keep things running smoothly for the dogs in our care.
