Winter prep 🌊🌊🌊
If you are from the island, you know at some point this beautiful warm weather will do a 180 and it will be 3 months of torrential rain 😅😳
I’m working to try and get the last 3 loads of gravel in and spread before the rain starts. The gutters are being modified and the water tubs are ready. The stalls need to be swept out for new gravel and the mats need to be levelled.
Rupert is helping me clean the haynets. As soon as the rain hits no more hay on the ground because it gets covered in sand. Filling nets is a big chore during the wet months, all hay is fed off the ground.
Super thankful October has been sunny so far 🌞

Thank you so much Marlie and Jen for helping with the manure today 🙌 Saturday was my only day off this week so having the cleanup done helps so much. We were able to get Rupert’s feet trimmed and Betty Bunny’s nails thanks Jen. Thanks to my mom for helping and bringing all the delicious food ❤️ And thank you Kagan for taking my lawnmower for some troubleshooting much appreciated 🙏

Hay Shack is up and running. I still need to come up with a floor I think plywood will work they didn’t actually need to slide it too far. This should make hay deliveries easy during the wet months. I’m going to purchase the kit to close in the sides as well. Pretty handy!

I’m so happy to announce Daize the farm cat is now a full time inside house cat 💗
My amazing neighbours Denise Guhl Chss Kagan have been feeding him twice a day since before I moved in when it was Daize and Misty 🌈🪽 He waited for them every day at the driveway. But recently some large new neighbourhood cats were pushing him around and he got an abscess from a bite. He’s a senior now and deserves this stress-free cozy retirement, I’m so happy for him, Thank you to the Guhl family 🤗

Any leads on rubber mats or heavy duty rubber conveyor belting? What should I put on the floor of the shelter so I can stack Hay on it? This is my solution for easy deliveries during the wet months. Instead of trying to get the Hay up close to the barn, I set up the shelter logic so the Hay truck can just back right in and pull right out. The bales are 700 pound square so I have to be able to slide them in. It says four people to set up so I just did it myself in the dark 😅

I’m thankful for my family ❤️ and for all the folks who help out the sanctuary animals and all the different ways they help.
From collecting bottles, to p**p scooping, donating building supplies, helping with repairs, to wellness checks and keeping an eye on the horses, donating feed, donating equipment and supplies, to their monthly supporters on Patreon, and the folks who donate items for our marketplace sales, to those who donated shrubs and trees for planting and to those who share the social media as well! So many amazing people, thank you all 🙏💫
