If you email me from my website about your border collie a couple weeks ago, and didn't get a response, please reach out again! Your email address had a typo in it, but I wasn't able to figure out what it was supposed to be.

I'm very excited to share that my dear friend Emma is coming to Cranbrook next week and has openings for body work on dogs or horses, or behaviour consults with horses.

She owns Emma Kjelson - Horse Behaviour & Biomechanics and Jumping Jax Canine Fitness

Emma has been working with horses and dogs long before I knew her (12 years ago!) and has been hands down the most thorough, bang on, kind and helpful animal body worker I have met to this day.

Some of my favourite things about Emma are that she
✅ Spends time watching your animal move
✅ Takes a thorough history of physical and behavioural issues of your animals to help put puzzle pieces together
✅ Has experience with reactive and body sensitive animals (she will not push them past what they are emotionally comfortable with)
✅ Only works with passive adjustments, as she believes they are not only kinder but more successful in the long run
✅ Is great about including vets and other body workers in the process of they are willing
✅Always leaves you with homework to try to remedy the issue at its root when possible.
✅ Is one of the kindest, non judgemental humans I have ever met.
✅ Uses the most kind and ethical methods in her interactions, though has zero judgement of other's style of training.

Emma is in Cranbrook September 6th and 7th and has a few openings for new clients on either day (Friday late morning early afternoon, or Saturday afternoon). She also will see folks in Creston and a long the way.

Her prices are very reasonable, especially with her experience - she is often flown around the world to work with world class riders and their horses through body and mind.

As not to trigger FB jail, I'll put her price list in the comments once I've confirmed it.

Reach out to her secretary to book (or let me know if I can help connect you).

Personally my competitive (and retired dogs) would not be as balanced and functioning as they are without her. I cannot say enough good things.

Emma, IAABC Certified Horse Behaviourist, uses proven, horse-friendly, methods such as counter conditioning, and systematic desensitization designed to change your horse’s undesirable behaviours. Contact her for seminar and clinic info.

Hi! It's been a minute - time for re-introductions!

Some of you may already know me, others have never even heard of Eppic Dogs.

I have been a certified professional dog trainer since 2015. I have learned from many incredible legends in the industry such as Terry Ryan, Grisha Stewart, Dr. Susan Friedman and Jay Jack to name a few.

I have also been a part of some amazing projects, including consulting with Canada Post on dog safety and Bite Prevention in the West Kootenays for many years, as well as working with the BC SPCA during my time with Animal Kind certification.

I have been a part of running daycares, boarding dogs in my home, private lessons and running many popular and well loved group classes from Salmo, to Rossland, to Castlegar and the Slocan Valley.

Fall of 2023 I feel like I needed a break. The dog world (and world in general) has become so polarized and harsh. I burnt out. This spring I decided while I had taken the break from training, it was the best time to make some personal changes, and I have moved to Cranbrook to soak up these East Kootenay trails!

Of course I did the thing where I deleted a bunch of my website, and original page. So we are here starting from all new. Thanks for your patience as I get the website updated and running smoothly again.

I am now settling in here in beautiful Cranbrook. I am ready and currently taking on new private lesson clients, and as interest builds, will look for a reliable rental for group classes by the fall of 2024.

I will link my website on my About section as I believe the link is causing a glitch here.

You can contact me via email (most reliable for me to not miss it!) at
[email protected] or through my website.

Thank you again to and for these fantastic photos.

I'm having some glitches with posts being taken down when I post them. I believe it is related to being a business as I'm seeing others with the same. Hold tight while I argue w Facebook!

In the meantime let's look back and repost some favourite reels from the past couple years..

There are so many posts with misinformation every summer.

TLDR; Get the dog immersed in water. Immediately. Wet towels do not work well.

"The cooling methods used to manage dogs with HRI presenting to primary care veterinary practices during 2016–2018 demonstrated poor alignment with the Vet-COT best practice recommendations for prehospital management of canine patients with Heat Related Illness (HRI). Only 21.70% of the dogs treated for HRI had been recorded as cooled prior to arrival at the veterinary practice, highlighting the need for stronger communication of the message “cool first, transport second”. The most frequently used cooling method was the application of water-soaked towels (51.31%), despite strong evidence from both the human and equine literature that this method is less effective than cooling methods recommended in the Vet-COT guidelines (cold-water immersion or evaporative cooling). In conclusion, current messaging regarding the management of dogs with HRI requires urgent attention to dispel cooling myths; the message to “cool first, transport second” should be widely promoted, as delayed cooling will result in poorer clinical outcomes."

PS: Platz ist in der kleinsten Hütte... Der Hund im Bild weiß, was gut für ihn ist. Er nutzt sogar einen wassergefüllten Tränkeeimer zur Abkühlung.
