In addition to dog training We offer boarding as well as PEMF therapy. It’s a WHOLE DOG approach so your dog can live its best life. As dog owners ourselves, we realize how hard it can be to find someone you can trust to look after your dogs in your absence. That is why at Gunnar's Place we believe in a completely open concept where your Canine family member will be treated as one of our own. They will have access to 5 acres to run and play, walks and time indoors with our family.

I often get asked about using different kinds of equipment on dogs and many people are surprised when I list a head halti as one of the things you will absolutely NEVER see me use . I figured I would create a little infographic to help people understand why and how damaging they can be for your dog. I believe most owners only want to do what is best for their dogs and would never intentionally cause them harm. We are sold “quick fixes” and sure they work. They work because the dog is avoiding that in which causes harm. Once we know better, we do better.

Jake has been coming here since he was just a pup. 10 years. The love this boy had in his heart filled every corner of this property when he was here. May there be endless fields of dandelions to run in and bunnies to chase for you. You will be missed beyond measure. Run free buddy. 🐾💔😢

Meet Hazel. Hazel is here for a board and train to help her with her poor choices on leash. Barking and lunging. She is actually quite a timid young lady. We always start off with building a relationship together and ensuring she has the basics before headed out and working in public spaces. She is an absolute sweetheart. Having a dog that barks and lunges on leash doesn’t mean that dog is “aggressive” in fact more often I see dogs that have fears and bark to make the scary thing move away - guess what it works therefore they are self rewarding. Getting what they want in that moment. Working with a dog like that is very different than ones that react because they want to go see the dog. Dog training isn’t black and white. It’s not a one size fits all. Being able to understand the dog infront of you as a whole is key to shaping and changing behaviours. I’m looking forward to working with Hazel and sending home a more confident dog who makes better choices in a few weeks.

Those who know me, know that I will always advocate for kennel training your dogs. This is a life skill. You never know when you might need it. For Cooper, having this skill meant that I could properly rest and rehab him following all 3 surgeries.

Day one - This guy is definitely gonna take some work but the fact that this is where we are right now is absolutely heartwarming. Helping dogs like him shift to a calmer life mentally is my jam. Having Max accept me into his circle of humans / things he can trust is the stuff that makes my heart swell with happiness. Who knows maybe tomorrow we might see what he thinks about the beach. 🐾 You got this Max. There is a whole world to explore and between your owners and I, we’ll be right here holding your paw along the way.

Meet Max. His owners reached out to me a couple weeks ago to see if I could help him with his confidence. Everything new to his world brings him a great deal of anxiety. When working with dogs like this the most important thing is building trust. Once we have that we can begin to open more doors for him. Trust isn’t something that can be forced it must be earned. So, he is hanging out with me for a few days so that he and I can build a relationship. Day one and although he is incredibly nervous, he is staying with me. Baby steps.
