We have BIG NEWS! As of today, we are no longer Puntledge Veterinary Clinic.
Fantastic Beasts Veterinary Services has added us as their third location! We will be closed until Monday July 6th at 8am to change some administrative tools and systems to ensure a smooth change over.

Today marks the start of Adopt a Cat Month! In veterinary medicine, we tend to take home animals as opposed to adopt through agencies, but adopt them we do!
Throughout the month we will share pictures of our personal cats that have been adopted in various ways.

Microchips and tattoos are both common ways of adding identification to our pets to aid in their return BUT... they only work if you keep the information with the registry up to date!
In BC, tattoos are generally registered to the veterinary clinic that put them in (unless the animal is purebred and was tattooed by the breeder). Each clinic has assigned letters that they start the tattoo with. For example, here at Puntledge Vet, all of our tattoos start with RY so if an animal is found with a tattoo starting with RY, we are given a call. As long as the information attached to that tattoo (and pet) remains up to date, we can aid in a happy reunion!
Microchips do not have a common registry, but similar to tattoos, the first few numbers will identify which company the microchip is registered to and information can be gained that way. Microchips also come with tags for the pets collar that will have a tag number (NOT the microchip number) that has a 1-800 number for contacting in case a pet is found so that a scanner is not necessary.
Please ensure that tags, tattoos and microchips have current owner information - they are not helpful the wrong person answers!
