A rare, but worthy brag post of some of my virtual nose work students (and one in person that’s age aligns with what we were teaching these puppies.) All three clients started with me on primary (food searches) with their small puppies in November or December last year. Nose work can be started at any age! They trusted me to stay on primary longer than what they have done in the past (or at all) with past nose work dogs. Building the joy of hunting, independence and problem solving in these young dogs, all while studying their search styles and instinctual behaviour. In the long run this would prove to be faster when it was actually time to enter in trials after introducing target odour etc. I got to see them in person recently and see in some of their first trials everyone just clean up! I forced a group photo (where I got to hear some complaints “I can’t hold all of these ribbons” 😂
One year later from months old November 2025-November 2026
October long scent work weekend where I got to Search Official with Nosey By Nature:
Denise & Zephyr - multiple Cwags Titles, CDSA DS1 with 3rd Place Overall and other placements
Kayla & Edith - Cwags Titles with Judge’s Pick & CDSA DS1. & Judge’s Choice
Paige & Journey - CDSA DS1 with 2nd Place Overall and other placements
In DS1 these dogs had to show proficiency in the same day in interior, exterior & containers. You can’t just hobble your way through collecting legs!
It’s such a pleasure to have students that trust the process and do their practices etc. but extra rewarding when done at a distance over virtual training! Thankful for all my great clients as I have so many! 💛🧡💛🧡
