Here’s what we wish pet owners knew about weight👇

TRUE: they’re cute at every size. ALSO TRUE: overweight pets are at risk of arthritis, diabetes, heart disease & more.

Small changes, like swapping table scraps for other treats or scheduling in more playtime or walks, can change their future.

⚠️ Is your pet chipped & is your info up-to-date?

Summer is the peak risk period for missing cats & dogs due to increased outdoor activities, open doors and gates, and noise or panic from summer storms and fireworks.

Over 1 million pets go missing each year in Canada, & it happens most in the summer😔

Make sure to chip your pet so they can be traced back to you!

VERY important to keep in mind👇👇

🔥 Avoid Strenuous Activity: Don't exercise your pet in hot weather (especially the short-snouted breeds as they are prone to overheating!). Look out for excessive panting, lethargy, or drooling. If you notice these signs, move your pet to a cooler area right away.

🌊 Stay Hydrated & Shaded: Always carry a portable water bowl to keep your pets refreshed during outings and make sure there’s a shaded spot for your pets to escape the sun’s intense rays.

🚗 Never Leave Pets in Cars: Even for a short time and even with AC on, cars can heat up dangerously fast. Leave your best bud in a safe, cool spot to avoid the risk!

🐾 Protect Those Paws: If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for their paws! Choose grassy paths to avoid pavements that could burn your pet’s feet, or consider using paw-safe booties.
