North Island Reptile Rescue Society

North Island Reptile Rescue Society Warm Hearts for the Cold-Blooded Focusing adoption and education, NIRRS members volunteer their time doing rescue, school presentations and public events.

Our goal is to teach people about the responsible keeping of reptiles as pets, show people the importance of our native species and to share the joys of being a reptile keeper.

As mentioned early in 2019, NIRRS will be closing its doors after 12 years of providing safe haven to reptiles in need. This however does not mean we will be turning our backs on reptiles in need. The BC Reptile Club, in which I am a board member will be taking on reptile rescues province wide. NIRRS will intake animals providing we have room on behalf of the BCRC. We are transitioning into foster care for the BCRC for the North Vancouver Island. I do have the contact for the person looking after the south island, so those south of Nanaimo can contact me here, and I can put you in direct contact with our south island rep. Thank you for your years of support. It has always meant the world to us.

2019 is going to be a wind down year for the North Island Reptile Rescue. Effective immediately, we will no longer be intaking boas or other large constrictors, savannah monitors, tegus, iguanas. We realize this may cause some distress for those needing to rehome one of the listed species. We will try to help you if possible, however, we will not intake those reptiles into our care. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

We currently have two large adult boas ready for adoption. Both exceed eight feet. They are both eating well on F/T'd prey. We do not consider these snakes suitable for beginners, they require large enclosures. Shipping to the mainland can be arranged at your cost. Vancouver Island potential adopters can pick up in Comox. Please send a message to our inbox if interested.
