We’re excited to welcome Dr. Danielle Anderson (BScH, DVM, CCRP, cVMA) of SOAR Veterinary Services to the team at Collingwood Active Pets

Dr. Anderson is a highly respected leader in veterinary rehabilitation and pain management and the founder of SOAR Veterinary Services, a well known and highly successful rehabilitation practice based in Burlington . A graduate of the Ontario Veterinary College, she pursued advanced training in canine rehabilitation through the University of Tennessee and veterinary medical acupuncture through Curacore.

Beyond her clinical work, Dr. Anderson lectures internationally on rehabilitation and pain management and has contributed significantly to the profession through leadership roles, including serving as Treasurer for the International Veterinary Academy of Pain Management, as well as committee work with the College of Veterinarians of Ontario.

Through SOAR, she has also expanded access to rehabilitation services via telemedicine, supporting both patients and veterinary teams beyond traditional clinic settings.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have her collaborating with our team and helping elevate rehabilitation care at Collingwood Active Pets!

May is National Mobility Awareness Month 🐾

Mobility challenges don’t discriminate, they can affect pets of any size, age, breed, or lifestyle. From playful puppies to senior companions, injuries and conditions can impact how comfortably our pets move and enjoy their daily lives.

At our core, we believe every pet deserves to feel their very best and live a happy, active, and comfortable life.

Each and every one of our patients has left a lasting impact on us and continues to shape how we treat and support others. We’re so grateful for the trust you place in us.

And to all the dedicated owners — thank you. We know how frustrating and emotional it can be when your pet is injured or starting to slow down, and your commitment to their care truly makes all the difference.

Osteoarthritis doesn’t have to mean slowing down or long term medication use.

With the right rehab plan, we can:
✔️ Keep them moving
✔️ Reduce inflammation
✔️ Improve joint mobility
✔️ Boost body awareness

Movement truly is medicine. If your pet is stiff, slowing down, or struggling with stairs or jumps, rehab can make a meaningful difference in their comfort and quality of life ☀️

Rehab can help manage osteoarthritis along side medications or in some cases without the use of prolonged medications!

Stay warm! Stay Active!

There’s an intense cold snap sweeping through Southern Georgian Bay right now, and it’s making outdoor conditions harsh — not just for people, but for pets too.

If it’s cold for you, it’s cold for them. Please consider limiting outdoor time, especially for short‑haired or small dogs, and keep a close eye on their paws, ears, and body temperature.

Enjoy the winter scenery — just keep it safe and cozy for your furry companions ❄️🐾

Since it’s January… let’s talk swims 💦
Outdoor swims may be on pause, but the splashing doesn’t have to stop!
Our warm indoor hydrotherapy pool is the perfect way to keep pets active, strong, and happy all winter long.

Key benefits of hydrotherapy:
💦 Warm water helps relax muscles, improve circulation, and reduce stiffness
💪 Builds strength and endurance without placing stress on joints
🦴 Supports joint health and mobility through low-impact movement
🧠 Provides mental enrichment and confidence building when winter limits outdoor activity

Recreational swim sessions are an excellent way to maintain fitness and overall wellbeing during the colder months, they can also just be a fun activity for your water loving pets 🐾

Ask us about single sessions or multi-swim packages!

🐾 We’ve been talking more and more about elbow dysplasia in dogs lately... but what does that actually mean for your pet? 🐕

Elbow dysplasia isn’t just one issue, it’s a mix of developmental changes inside the joint that can lead to pain, stiffness, and early arthritis, often in both elbows!

Rehab plays a huge role in supporting these dogs by improving mobility, reducing pain, and keeping the joint as healthy and comfortable as possible long-term. 💪🏻🐾
