UPDATE!

Sorry everyone… thanks for your interest but I think I got too excited. The first plant I harvested had lots of potatoes on it, but when I went to dig some orders up this morning all the plants were not ready. I think it will be another week or two before we can supply your orders. I’ll keep everyone updated!

Fresh “No Spray” Warba Nugget Potatoes.
1-4 lbs $6 per pound
5-9 lbs $5 per pound

All our potatoes are grown pesticide and herbicide free and with organic fertilizer! Available in Coldstream near the Firehall.

These tender Warba new potatoes (also known as “Pink Eye”) are harvested young with thin, delicate skins and a creamy white flesh. They’re famous for their buttery, earthy flavor and smooth texture that shines when boiled, steamed, roasted, or in potato salads.

A true heirloom variety from the 1920s/30s, Warbas kick off the local potato season with their signature pinkish-red eyes and nutty taste. Perfect for quick summer sides—simply boil with butter and salt!

Special note. In order to support the water restrictions I will be brushing off the dirt but not washing them. This will also preserve the delicate skin for you to enjoy! These pictures show how they look right out of the ground which is pretty clean.

Are you looking for some Garlic Scapes? We have 1,000’s that have ripened under the tender rays of beautiful Coldstream sunsets. Please come and harvest as many as you need for free at our farm @ 8503 Aberdeen Road in Coldstream. Harvest them now and freeze them, pickle them, turn them into pesto or garlic salt. So many uses, but you need to get them soon. Just send me a message and I can get you set up on where to and how to pick them. You won’t even need any tools.

PS We have never used any herbicides or pesticides on our property so these scapes are as close to Organic as they come.

Also… those of you who have seen a lot of garlic will notice that there are a lot of stems all growing close together … which is not standard garlic planting practice. These garlics are “the ones that got away”. Two years ago… and again last year. So what was one garlic, turned into 4 or 5, and then 4 or 5 turned into 15 or 20. This year I have kept on top of the w**ds and the crop is flourishing! So in a row that once had 300 garlic seeds planted there are now about 6,000, and I have 12 rows! I don’t know how the garlic is going to turn out but the scapes look amazing!

Well it’s been a while since our last post. It’s been a busy summer of w**ding, harvesting and cleaning our Red Russian Garlic in preparation for the Grindrod Garlic Festival this coming Sunday! We will be there with hundreds of pounds of beautiful, spray free garlic. We are looking forward to being at a market again for the first time in a few years and hope to see some of you there.

But don’t worry, if you can’t make it we will also have lots of garlic for sale at our store or by special order. We will be posting our prices when get back from the festival. If you can’t wait till then just let us know if you are interested and we will work out a deal.

Fresh Garlic Scapes!
$1 per pound first 5 pounds
$0.50 for every extra pound

Garlic scapes are the flower stem of the Garlic plant. They have a consistency similar to asparagus or a green been, but taste like garlic!

Use them wherever and whenever you want garlic with a green twist! Eat them cooked or uncooked. Awesome in stir-fry’s, eggs, or salads. Also super yummy when made into pickles or pesto! If you aren’t sure how to use them, just freeze them in small batches and pull them out to cook when you feel inspired and want some fresh green garlic in your meal.

Please message us with an order and we will arrange a time for you to pick them up.

But get them soon, we are picking and selling this week and they won’t last long.

PS, we don’t use any herbicides or pesticides on our farm… if you look closely in this photo you will see the w**ds!

End of April progress report. Most of the garlic is looking great! And even more exciting is that we are staying on top of the w**ds. The next event will be the growth of the scapes. Scapes are actually the flower stem of the garlic. But they are so much more than a stem, they are a delicious and beautiful green edible part of the garlic plant. We will be harvesting them in late May early June and seeking them by the pound. Make sure to get some and put them in the freezer and you will love them in your omelette’s, stirfries, and pretty much everything. In fact you might like them more than the garlic itself and you will definitely be sad when you use the last of them. We will let you know when they are ready.

What a difference a week or two makes! The irrigation is on and providing the garlic, and the w**ds 🥺, about 1” of water per week. Most of the garlic has sprouted and now has a good 2 to 3 inches of leaves growing out the top. We have already w**ded this block twice and there are 7 others just like it that are also needing w**ding almost every day 😭. Since we don’t use any chemicals, the plan is to w**d each block at least once per week from now until mid July. I shouldn’t complain too much, it has been amazing to get outside everyday and listen to the birds and the frogs and other animals while getting a bit of fresh spring air and exercise.
